In our defence snakebite not all Aussies are insecure and I have not noticed this kind of behaviour amongst the Expats on the board or that I've met in person.
Maybe the OP can explain what he meant?

I can't say the same for expats who live there, think they were born there and know everything about Thailand. And a lot of expats i know don't have a clue how to treat Thai people. But in saying that i would'nt have a clue because i don't live there i'm just a tourist.

Sounds to me like you've had some bad experiences with expats here? Do you feel like you should receive some special welcome from expats because you come on holidays?
Some of the expats may feel that some of the tourists are a bunch of wankers. You know, the ones that walk around with their shirts off, think they are gods gift to women and treat the girls like crap.
Maybe something a little closer to home that you should explain instead of coming on here and picking a fight with the expats.

Tourist in the 1st place should understand the country they are going to. Not only with the atitude of going on a holiday and DO WHATEVER THEY WANT. I really hate those.
Dont misunderstand me, some are good, they do research and try to understand the culture, but most dont.
Expats have been there a long time, of course not all are good.

I have been to Thailand many times and i don't disrepect the Thai culture or the girls and expescially the king. The problem i have with the few expats i have meet who because they live there they forget they are living in another country than there own and because they have money think they can treat the locals like sh*t. I saw this happen many times in bars around Chalong where many expats live.

The ones who treat them with respect probably slipped beneath your radar.
I would say the respectful ones far out number the disrespectful.
Their are disrespectful Thai`s around too.

Because they want your tourist money..
I can't say the same for expats who live there,
Because we dont want your tourist money..
think they were born there
No Thank god.
and know everything about Thailand.
I of course dont in any way pretend to know everything about Thailand, however I know far more about Thailands history, both contemporary and longer, than most normal Thais.. The fact that Thais are very ignorant about thier own country (my GF struggles to find large towns on a map), are taught a very biased and incorrect version of the countries history etc is very evident when you live here for a while.
Sometimes you gain a clear perspective from the outside looking in.

I find this strange.
is the poster suggesting that I should walk around welcoming tourists....get real.
I happily help tourists any time I can, but I certainly don't welcome them to Thailand as it's not my country to welcome them to.
As for treating the locals like shit as opposed to lovely respectful tourists. I can only laugh and shake my head at such nonsense.

This is 100% true. The majority of Thais know very little about their own country / history, just the few nationalistic titbits they are regularly fed to be brainwashed with by those who benefit from the status quo. My wife wants to know anything about Thailand she asks me.

Has this thread been posted to start an argument between tourists and expats?
Looks like it to me, and really serves no purpose.
Thread closed.
