The new Central Festival Mall is to open tomorrow 1st Sept - hours 10am - midnight.

It still look very unfinished and there were myriads of workers yesterday trying to complete in time. I have never seen so many workers at a construction area in my entire life. Hundreds of them visible.

I always laugh at the fact that it's built right where the road narrows to one lane, traffic's gonna be murder there in future. It's probably the worst point on the island already.

Its particularly murder on the road comming from Kathu to Phuket City - this because of the Marko traffic.... worst time is 4pm-8pm just avoid this road all together. Marko are widening thier piece of road so maybe better in month or so. The Lotus-BigC Road is moving but weekdays 4pm-6pm is hellish. Tonight Sat at 6pm and 3pm tomorrow Sun, they have Thai pop concert so especailly avoid!!

To further deprive us of nocturnal activity ....

The new opening hours are as follows: (to save electricity!!!!).

Central Festival, Robinson, Big C and Tesco-Lotus: Monday-Thursday: 11 am to 9.30 pm; Friday: 11 am – 10 pm; Saturday and Sunday: 10 am-10 pm.

Makro and Super Cheap: Monday-Thursday: 6 am-9.30 pm; Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 6 am-10 pm.

So its not just the bars/clubs that get told to close earlier!!

Just a personal view but this seems economically a pretty retrograde step!!

I went to Central Festival few days, looked pretty boring and the brand name shops had lot of space/air but not so many items and were pretty empty of customers. Many people looking around and had a dinner thought.

The adventure sport shop on 3rd floor is not open yet but I guess it may be worth a visit.

BigC and Tesco Lotus is a lot more funny to visit.
