Day 1 No Booze

When I made my vow of no alchohol for September I made it knowing I would still be circulating around Patong. Most guys on the island if they don't drink for the evening they just stay home. Staying home is a cop out for me as I want to be able to hang out at a bar and not have to drink if I don't want to, just flirt with girls. Back home the thought of hanging out at a bar without drinking is nonsense as alot of the bars have very ugly or no women at all, so what are you there for?
But here in Phuket Patong is soooo fun to walk around in an area just teeming with women that I still want to get out.
So Day 1 was a success for me, I had 2 large glasses of lime soda and one water. Was it a little boring not drinking?, yes. But very interesting watching my friends get drunk and the girls get drunk. I have never not drank when I was in Patong so this was a first.
The look on Nicke's face when I arrived was so funny he immediatley hid his Tiger beer in his hand in shame but then laughed about it. I know it must be doubly hard for him as he has many people who want to buy him a drink. What can he do, turn them down? and risk upsetting someone. He wants to be a good host so he sacrificies his health for the sake of his guests. Because as you know he is "forced" to drink black death and fisherman's friend.
So now that everyone knows Nicke wants to go "on the wagon" DO NOT offer him any drinks so he can be a good boy.
Also spent the night alone so little Bobby got some reprieve as well.

Will keep posting on my challenge.

Cheers!

If any of us offer Nicke a drink , he can actually opt for a club soda if he so wishes , thus not offending anyone's generosity

Hi Robert!
Wow, I never thought you would last that long. But right now its another night for you in Patong, and and Im wondering, are you still able to drink soda.

I know its a lot of drinkingpreassure, and Its harder for Nicke than for you. I would probably only last for 3-4 days not drinking.

Good luck, and I know you are going to need it.

Geir

Thumbs down

Bah - The booze is not the problem.

The problem is thinking there is something wrong with your lifestyle Rob - BTW most people would kill to be where you are doing what you are doing now.

I go through phases like this myself - Too much of a good thing and all.

After 7 years of suffering through third world destinations (Well 5 only - The other two were spent in the the Republic of Ireland which is the in the EU don't you know and total devoid of easily obtainable worthwhile pussy (LOL Jonny ) I have come to the realisation it not that I am drinking too much or mongering too much - It is because I sometimes feel guilty about the lifestyle that I lead when I look at those around me. Especially a teenage LBFM doing unspeakable acts of intimacy for the price of a few beers and a packet of smokes back in my home country.

Then I realised that these girls would be doing the same for less for the local sexpats and their own countrymen - Me not indulging would make no difference except I would lead a less enjoyable life and have to become self righteous like all the femme nazi's and their pet males.

Anyway Rob, my advice is as follows:-

It's Friday, go down to the MTB and talk Nicke of the wagon, get half cut - Pick up two TG LBFM BG's go back to your bungalow after picking up a tall bottle of Jack and enjoy.

Don't waste what you have as for tommorow you might be make in the good olde US of A trying to seduce over weight, self important farang girls with little more on their minds then themselves.

Stop whining and get out there lad

What the hell are you complaining about???

BTW see you soon and if your not drinking I am a gonna have to give you a flying head butt

Day 2 it's all ready tough

Thanks Bafana for the advice but I'm only doing this to see if I can hang around "The scene" and not have to drink. I'm not stopping the shagging as I don't believe the two go hand in hand. I want to be able to wake up earlier and do what I have planned instead of rolling over and going for another shag and taking three asprin. So much time wasted in bed

Day 2- I worked on what was supposed to be my day off but I'm in the process of starting a bakery to be up and running for high season so this week no time off. The bakery is to be called "The Master Baker" and every expat I tell it to snickers and every Thai it gets no reaction. Anyways there's a salon that just opended across from my restaurant called Senses and it's huge and very western in style. One of the owners is "HOT" and she asked me to go to Kay Jok See a restaurant in Phuket town with two of her friends. I'm surprised as she usually hangs with the guys who drive Porches on the island and those likes (I'm just the little restaurant manager) well it turns out she didn't want to drive and her friends are tourists so she wanted me to drive her car. I do and we go to the restaurant she orders a bottle of red wine four glasses get delivered and I reply I'm not drinking. You would have thought I insulted royalty or something as she couldn't understand why I don't drink. I reply nothing in September, she asks me if I'm taking pills which I should have said yes, but denied. After much discussion she relented after dinner little shots come and I give mine to the guests. After that margarita's get delivered all this complimentry as she is a frequent customer I again give mine to her. She is just looking at me with those eyes that say "Your not getting laid buster"
Well she gets up dancing and has a great time we go back to my restaurant she gets into her car and is off and so are her friends. I had a great time and it's no big deal about drinking and I felt great waking up this morning, alone.

Anyways she's renting out my restaurant on the 7th for her birthday party and there are many other events planned with her company so I think we should just stay business friends anyways. Oh did I mention she's married but split up, another reason to stay friends.
Keep you posted on Day 3

Cheers!

I know it's an old thread - but I like 'closure' as our U.S. friends would say.

...and thanks for the (excellent) answers guys

Cheers,
driv.
