I'm on TOT ADSL and BBC1 is coming through perfectly without any buffering. Had it on for a few hours now.

BBCiPlayer I can only get radio. I suppose if you used a remote desktop that was in the UK you'd be able to get the TV shows as they would think you were in the UK.

Same for that TVCatchup site. Can't get it outside UK otherwise. Just tried it and it clocked straightaway I'm in Thailand.

Trouble is most of the best programmes will be on middle of the night here...like James Mays' Robot one tonight :-(

iPlayer in the UK is simply superb (I see Ch4 has a 4 on demand also but not tried it) iPlayer looks about as clear as Thai TV from UBC but then theres HiDef to make you want the real time showing.

In Thailand you can subscribe to a proxy service an use the iPlayer, I wil be doing that on my return I think.

Last I heard (a couple of weeks ago) was that the BBC were in talks with YouTube to make all their programmes available online (possibly for free).

Go to FilmOn-TV watch live Television channels

Download the player and you can see BBC1 and 2 and all 4 ITV Channels; Ch4 and Ch5 and many other channels. Occasionally they get scrambled. Working for me in Japan.

If you just get a paid proxy you can access the lot..

Something like 50 EUR per year is a bargain for BBC / Sky HD / Ch4oD / Etc streaming..

Never mind I just noticed the advertisement at the top of this page.

Is this the same thing as what you are talking about?

Does anyone have experience with this site that can let us know if it is worth subscribing?

Thanks

You put into your proxy setting the proxy info.. that then bounces the data requests from you to the proxy and then on.. So you appear to be where the proxy is..

There 1000's of free ones (google free proxy) but they change, are slow, and generally needs loads of work.. But you can pay for a reliable high speed one fairly cheaply. And theres many that will give a UK IP address for just this.

I havent done it yet, basically I didnt realise how great iPlayer is.. But when I get back I am signing up and seeing how it streams, my ADSL should be enough for this.. and the download shows will be ok even if not.

That one looks purpose built for it yeah..

Not sure if thats competative price.. but 5 pound a month is hardly breaking the bank.. for all that UK TV !!

UBC is awful.. I am all for going more IPTV..

That's what I thought, fiver is nowt!

I will give it a try today and let you know. Good thing is you don't have to agree to a long contract, so if its shite only lost a fiver.

I tried the free proxy route when iplayer first came online. Absolute headache!!!

I tried another site earlier for a free24hour trial, tried to stream a show but it said not enough bandwidth. So am just downloading a show instead.

BBC iplayer, 4oD, ITV player, Sky cards outside uk - Dual Viewer

Bugger! To download from iplayer you first need to downlaod the iplayer desktop....for UK residents only!!!!!!

So the free trial is useless!

I saw cheaper I think.. 30 eur a year.. but of course performance and reliability is everything..

Check if you can set up the iPlayer desktop app (its only a HTML application) as thats how the download works.. I am more download and watch as I want like a tivo than streaming.. Plus that will iron out any bandwidth issues.

If I can help by DLing the desktop and sending it to you let me know.

If you want a proxy server you can try this one>>>

Tools/InternetOptions/Connections/LANSettings/tick use a proxy server

Address: 169.235.24.232
Port: 3128
save and refresh page

Should allow you to use BBCiPlayer and get on sites like Veoh from Thailand?

I paid the 5 GBP, easy to set up and got into all websites without a problem.

Again streaming is a total failure so I tried to download from BBCiplayer and that was also terrible 160kb/s!

I will see how it goes over the month, its not an automatic re-bill so that's easy enough no need to cancel.

It may be better late at night tonight so will just have to see.

I also prefer to download rather than streaming, I know you can do it with BBC but not seen this in ITV, CH4 etc yet?

Fonejacker series 1 is on Veoh but you need to use a proxy to watch it from Thailand>>>

Searching Videos for "fonejacker" | Veoh

and Channel 4 catchup is here>>>

http://www.channelchooser.com/tv/wat...catch-up/4263/

...again I think you need a proxy server or remote desktop in the UK to get it.

I have been searching and it seems there is NO way to grab streams from 4OD...at the moment.

The only option is to stream it all first and then record whats on the screen. But the idea was to just download the show quickly.

Oh well I will just have to hope it speeds up maybe when this ASEAN farce is over.

Thanks for the links mate. VEOH has some of the fonejackers but not all. I will make do with them tho cheers.

The Channel 4 catchup link is the same page as 4OD, I now have a UK IP address so can access them but its just very slow.
