Hi Baz
I smell someone trying to organise some life changing experiences......
Has life in Blighty got so pap that you are going to bail out?
Good luck if you do it, and good luck if you dont
See you at Chrimbo

I guess I know him, he actually rent apartment here. He asked me me lot of questions regarding company setup and other things we expat have to take care of. He worked in US but is originally from Sweden.
Baz, I have company and work permit so when the times come I can help you with such things.

Its not hard to set a company up, but you do need to give Thai nationals 51% ownership of the shares. Other than this important point its pretty straight forward

...and you have to make your Thai shareholders sign paper that they transfer the shares back to you so they can not claim anything from you.
But they still have 51% on paper, according to the law.

To nicke
that be great if i could have a serious chat away from the bar thanks.
Yes mike a life changing experience is getting closer.
i've been thinking about it a long time now but after this month there's no doubt i will.
got three speeding fines in 3 months, two in 4 weeks.
got first with mobile speed trap going 42mph on dual carriage way
2nd again early morning 5.15am they change the speed of dual carriage way from 50 to 30mph. nice clear road completely forget same again 42mph.
3rd one last week another mobile speed camera that was placed 300 yards ahead of a fixed camera im sure just to catch people before they slow down for the fixed one.
another 3 points and im banned so i've had to buy a speed trap detector device.
just one big money making scheme.
and as im winging getting out before the government revalues the council tax brackets and your paying double for the same service.
mike i know you've got a long term plan but see if you can make it shorter, life is to short and the whole country going down the toilet.
see you christmas for a few drinks.

Ain't it just? I'm kind of working out if a move to LOS is possible - kind of hard to work out the right business though.

Whasssup Baz
hey there,
Sorry for being so distant. I have not logged on in 3 months I think, but Andy from Sweden said someone had a post for me so I went in to answer..
Regarding your questions...
how is it going and was there any probelms etc.
No problems. Was a little worried with the company set up, work permit, etc etc., but it all worked out smoothly. I found a great attorney Greg Lange at Sunbeltasia..They can help you with the whole set up. I paid him almost 50K baht I think in total. So now Im flying....:-) I think there is cheaper out there but I rather pay the money to someone with lots of experience....
Was it easy setting up the company.
Yes. You should get a multiple entry visa in your home country (3 months) if possible. Then fly to Bangkok and he will do the rest.
I went to his office in Ratchada in bangkok...They need visa, passport and then you have to fill out and sign a whole bunch of papers (at least 50 pages in thai language)...You need to bring your university diplomas if you have and also a resume....You also need a reference from one of your employers...I think thats about it..The whole thing took about 3-4 weeks I believe...By the way...I have my company set up in bangkok..Its easier to get work permit there than it is here in Phuket...At least this is what I have been told from my accountant...
what happened about the paid up capitial.
He takes care of that...
hope it's all working out for you and your still in phuket.
Thanks a lot Baz....Im still here enjoying life, except from when i am working..LOL...
if you around patong any time from 31st dec to 23rd jan it be great to have a chat and a few beers with you at mai thai bar .
Sure. just let me know. you can call me 09-06 32 858..Thats my cell...
to nicke have you ever meet oriental breeze in the MTB.
OK this is funny. I went to MTB to see Nicke (have never seen him before). Only on the forum....It turned out that I live in the same building. one floor up...Patong is small....Thanks Nicke for all your kind advice...I'll be down there soon again....
