Denied permission to leave Thailand

Was told this interesting story by a fellow bar owner (who will remain anonymous). He went on a visa run to Ranong the othe day, and when he presented his passport to leave Thailand, he was told that the computer had him flagged as not paying VAT for 5 months of last year, so was denied permission to leave the country.

I have heard reports of this linkup happening but didnt think it would actually eventuate. So any company owners wanting to leave the country, make sure your up to date.
