Drivers License

Phuketers,
Does anyone know if there is a place in Phuket to apply for your driver license? I understand you should apply in the province where you live.
I have two addresses, one in Bangkok and one in Phuket.
I would prefer to get it in Phuket but do not know which might be easier.
I have a work permit and current license from the states, what else would I need.
Any help would be appreciated.........

Get an international driver license and then you can easily get a Thai driver license without doing any tests and so on.

If I remember right you need health certificate, photos, copy of passport, copy of your international driver license, copy of tabian baan, notification of stay from immigration and the application forms filled out.

And I read recently you need to be on a non immigrant visa when applying !!! Not been told that in the past but the poster (on Thaivisa.com) then came back with text from a gov website listing it all and it was one of the requirements.

Thanks for the help. I will try to get my international and if all else fails I will bring a few baht, that always seems to open the door.
