To expats
Is there any thing like copyright in thailand and where do you go to get it.
Has anyone tried to get it for something in thailand.
How much use is it anyway in thailand or is it just another thing thats not legally binding in thailand.

Yes copyright exists but its not really enforced anywhere in the far east (japan maybe) but copyright is a very complex subject anyway.. The weird thing is they do try to keep a bit of a lid on Thai produced media versus overseas media.. for example its much harder to get a copy of a Thai movie in the DVD copy shops than it is a American one..

Once published the author of the content no longer retains full control of the work in question..

Trademarks and intellectual property and such can ofcourse be registered in Thailand, but to protect your rights may be expensive.

E.g. Microsoft can afford to and pay people to do raids at internet cafes and companies to check if they have valid and legal versions of Windows on their computers, althought it is difficult to stop the distribution of copies. (As we all know is the case for software and DVD movies)
