17 inch LCD screens

Bus computers at Big C are selling Samsung SyncMaster 710v 17 inch LCD screen for B10,990, and 15 inch for B8,990. Compared the Samsung side by side with a Sony 17 inch screen (B14,990) and the Sony was absolute shit.

This is the about the best price I've seen around for 17 inch screens, just brought 2 of them.

Agree... but

I purchased in the same area an Samsung 172X which is normally sold between 20-25k for 15k. I asked the shop owner to order and it looks to me as he got it from malaysia. It came with extra DVI cable and wall mount. This extras are not incl. in the thai packages. The screen is one of the best you can buy but you should do so only if you are going to use DVI connection (Digital) to your grafics card as well...! Monitors with DVi connection are very rare in Thailand and allways about 5000.- THB more expensive as normal Analog ones. Compared to that the price I got two months ago was fantastic.

wow $375 USD for a 17" monitor is expensive here in the states. You can pick up the Dell 20.1" inch screens for about $380 w/ discounts they always run on Dell. I believe the screen type they use are LGs, I could be wrong you can just look up the FRU number on the panel.

And with all the money you save on most things, you can well afford to pay a little bit more for a nice LCD monitor!

Just looked at 17" LCD monitors at Costco today. Only $220 for excellent quality monitors, choice of several brands. One brand, DCL had a $20 rebate for a net price of $200. A 15" LCD monitor was $150(after rebate).

WildOnE, I think you need to check your math!!

Try $275 USD as the amount SteveM paid for his. Correct me if I'm wrong, but did he not say he paid 10,990 Baht, for them, which is $275. To get high quality computer goods in LOS for only $55 more than I could get it here in the states near the heart of Silicon Valley, seems like a very good deal to me!!

Buy what your forgetting is that most of these things are made down the road in Penang. The price of electrical items here on the island is getting better and more inline with the rest of the world.

Right you are, of course. And you would think that they ought to cost less there for that reason. But oddly enough, that is not the way it works. It is like with Japanese automobiles: they are considerably cheaper in the US than they are in Japan! However, it is good to hear that the situation is improving there!!
