where can I find...

... a really good hammock..

I just found a spot behind my house that has a really nice solid breeze + tree Nice private spot.. Mostly shadded in afternoon..

Have had hammocks in lots of places (slept in one every night for 6 - 8 months once when living with a buddy with limited space) and want to hook up a top quality one here.. None of the bunk string tiny things from the beach..

At a bare min I want a big string one with wooden supports / spreaders at both ends.. Better would be a 'mexican' hammock or blanket hammock as I have heard them called.. Even better would be one of the mega large ones you lie sideways in and can hold a couple of people..

Cost aint the issue its getting a good one.. anyone seen really good ones on Phuket ???

You can tell the pace of island life is getting too much for me

When I was in Ponta Negra there was alot of people selling hammocks of different types and qualities. The price was very friendly and there is a company here that apperently import hammocks from Brazil here is the link...

http://www.hangmattor.se/hangmattor.htm

The prices are in Swedish crowns (1 SEK = 5.3 Baht) and if you're genuine interested and would like to buy one from this Site/company, I could buy it for you and bring it with me, which means you'll have it in late November... Unfortunately the site is in swedish only

I'm sure I have seen them in homepro or something similar to that. Thought to myself at the time, that would be a bloody good idea, but trying to keep the dogs of it would be a problem

Bespoke?

How about getting one ''made to measure''. With low labour costs and your not insignificant size (no offence) maybe a self design and build might be the answer.

Will scope homepro and the central and index stores in the next day or two...

Made to measure is an idea but a good hammock (with spreader bars) isnt as easy as all that to make (I have made them before and they were shoddy).. at 6'3" and 100 KG's thai stuff isnt built for me usually..

Will look for a week or so then maybe take the mex company up on thier largest cotton one.. Now I have found the spot, and knowing how nice they can be, it is a must do item

Ok, so your 100kg and Tilak is 42kg and one of her friends is probably another 42kg so figure on specs of 200kg's you will have to find some very strong fabric!

And I get the simpson ref.. Me and my Bro are really bad at doing obscure simpsons jokes..

Found a mexican direct company.. just haggling over the fed ex costs as first quote was more than the hammocks..

There are some Ex-Royal Navy hammocks for sale near me for 15 of your British pounds. Apparently they can take quite a big 'load' and are good for at least two sailors! Bit on the heavy side for me to bring with though!!

I'll get my coat...........................Taxi for Denver!!!!

No, honestly, these are the genuine article and are dirt cheap. I bought one for my roof garden. Not actually used it yet in the UK and you can guess the reason why! If they didn't weigh so much and take up all my allowance and the fact that I am here and not there etc etc yadder yadder yadder I would bring you one over. They are really easy to fall out of too!

Find a local craftsman/handyman .. explain what you want and get him to make you one .. couldn't be too hard for a people who can turn truck tyres into rubbish bins/deckchairs/space shuttles.
