Hey DJ Dave! Do I look like a fussy man here? I would close my eyes take myself back to 1978 and take Agnetha to heaven and back.
I just had and still do have a thing for her! I still think ABBA, whoops sorry ABBA hits are floor fillers and are as good today as they were from 1978 (Which is before I was born obviously) The fact that Madonna has used a dub-cut thingie from Gimme, Gimme, Gimme has to mean something and it will sell.
Dancing Queeeeen, Dancing Queeeeeeen, Having the time of your liiiiiife, whose that girl? Watch that Sceeeeene, she is a dancing Queeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen Yeah baby Yeah!! Belt it out boy!

I dunno Denver, I'd feel kind of strange, even like I was being set up for something if I was to spin "Dancing Queen" and dedicate it to you. No offence mate but I learned long ago not to provoke blokes who carry weapons for a living, (and i ain't talking about the weapon between your legs).
So how about Money Money Money? It might not be the greatest Abba song, but it's probably more appropriate for a bloke like yourself.

Well, hey! Not only is it 400 years since the gunpowder plot, more importantly it is 33 years since Abba was formed!

1. Having the best bonfire night I think I've ever had here tonight!! The fireworks are the best I've ever seen and someone has just set off one of those 'AirBombs' which definately cost more than 99p and it was Fcukin' Ace!!
2. It can't be 33 years since ABBA was formed as I am only 27!
3. G Spot should be called ABBA A-Go Go and just play ABBA music. I for one would make tracks straight for the door and be in there and dancing. If the girls are wearing silver platform boots and blond wigs............so much the better!!

It's always down to personal tastes and far be it from me to say that everyone should like techno/rave music but there is a lot of confusion about what rave music or techno actually is.
Rave music in the good old days was probably more like hardcore. That's drum beats at around 180-220 per minute. Rock is generally 80-120 bpm so it's no surprise a lot of people don't like it. It's too fast for a start, and repetitive and would probably seem like it lacks soul. I hate it actually.
Techno is a very misunderstood genre of music. The classic definition of techno amongst most people is one of fast drum beats - around 140 bpm, again repetitive layers etc. Quite often it's associated with those synthesiser sounds that sound like that god-awful Vengaboys song. This is NOT techno.
A lot of dance music gets lumped into the techno basket because techno can range from beatless atmospheric soundscapes thru to bang bang 180bpm.
Just to prove to yourself how awesome techno can be, go to Soulseek here .. http://www.slsknet.org/ and download and install the client. You can now download music for free, not just dance music, just about anything. It's peer to peer so be careful but I've never had a drama.
Do a search for the following songs. They are all techno tunes.
1. Slam - This World (extended mix)
2. Aztec Mystic - Knights of the Jaguar
3. Derrick May - Strings of Life (you'll know this one)
Then there's House music - there's deep house, tech house, Chicago, west coast, acid house, funky, disco, tribal, progressive, vocal, jazzy house, and I could fill a page or two with more. There's heaps.
On Soulseek again look for
1. Laid Back - White Horse (you'll all know this one, one of the first dance music rekkids ever)
2. Mark Farina - Dream Machine (JT Donaldson mix)
3. Luke Sardello - Episodes in Jazz (Swirl People mix)
4. Jose Nunez - Bilingual (Dirty mix) - this song will give you a hard-on, great lyrics
Then theres breakbeat. This style was actually championed by James Brown who was one of the first to use a broken beat on the third beat in 4/4. This might appeal to those who like rock and metal. Look for
1. Freeland - Heel and Toe
2. Evil Nine - Hired Goons (just bloody nice music)
Then there's hip-hop, Drum and Bass, Garage, trance (which most people call techno), dub, and any number of other styles and sub-genres.
There are some songs that are undeniably great and deserve to be all time classics no matter whether they were written centuries ago, Mozart's Ein Klein Nachtmusic springs to mind or this century - Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me.
Don't diss dance music until you have a chance to hear the good stuff. The trouble with things is that you only hear the absolute worst cheese on radio. The good stuff is only ever heard in good clubs.
If anyone likes any of the tunes I've mentioned and would like some more signposts, just PM me.

DJ Dave- You seem to know your stuff. When I was in Patpong in BKK, alot of the King's bars were all playing some electronic music I'd never heard before. It was sorta brokenish-garageish-electro-ish and somewhat sexaleque, but it was a genre I'd never heard before, I was thinking it may be an asian style. Know what I'm talking about?

I really hate the music in discos. I am an former punk. When Iīve been to long in a disco I feel sick from the Techno music. Not the beers. True. But I still go, but not for long time.
Swedish BMīs can do a DC++ search for my old punkband Slaskfittorna.
