visa questions

a few questions regarding a 3 month tourist visa to australia for my thai gf.

1/ if visa is granted do we have to wait untill she returns to thailand to apply for fiancee visa and if so how long may it take for approval of fiancee visa.
i have heard it can take up to 2 years, would this be unusual.

2/what would be an exeptable length of time with the embasy to of know your gf before application for tourist visa is made.ive been in constant contact threw phone,e/mail for 2 months and will be going over to see her in feb.

3/should i wait untill i get over there in feb to apply for tourist visa or should i do it before hand.

4/if an application is not granted how long would you have to wait before you could apply again.

thanks.

Hutchy,

Mate, I suggest that you make contact with an immigration agent/agency in Australia, and put these questions to them. Considering that the slightest wrong thing can make an application fail, you should speak with someone that really knows whats going on.

Recently there have been a couple of BM's successful in getting tourist visas for their GF to travel to Oz, but no one to date has applied for a fiancee visa, so what your told here may well be opinions.

Good luck, and do keep us informed as to your progress.

This is not a question about visa however related in some ways... I read somewhere that thai authorities demand a certificate of yellow fever vaccination is a person has been to certain countries and one of those is Brazil And on top of everything there is a stamp on my passport which proves I've been there resently, so my question is... Do you happen to know if the guys at the airport really care about it and will make a deal out of it by asking me for the certificate and should a be a good lad and just take the shot and have the certificate with me... The thing is that the vaccine is quite expensive (not very thou) but most of all I hate shots and needels

If it is a valid requirement, and seeing that immigration is now fully computerised, when your passport is scanned, any entry requirements will be displayed on the screen.

I won't say they check, but if they check and see in your yellow health pass that you have been to a country were you need vaccinations, they can refuse you entrance to Thailand. I have been sailing to many places and in some they are very strict.
