What's all this about the sanctity of the Thai head? If I reach over to stroke my barfine's hair, is she going to scream bloody murder? Is it okay to kiss Thais?

Pretty simple....Don't touch a Thai's head. It is the spiritual high point of the body...the connection point to God (put simplistically).

If you touch your barfines head...she'll probably just smile...think you are an asshole and not say anything...it'll have happened to her before it's a job hazard of servicing foreigners.

Touch a Thai persons head outside of that situation and expect more chance of fireworks, of course the Thais are generally non confrontational and might not even advise you of your sin.

In short. Don't bother...especially having been told. If you do you've just proved yourself not worthy of being here.

And don't point your feet at people in certain situations, though this is not as widely considered an insult as many think, it's more the timing/situation of it

Sorry...further to your question....hair is okay...face is okay...it's the actual top of the head that is off limits.

Kissing....again Bar Girl will often do more than kiss in the bar...often outside in somewhere like patong....but do not get too close when in normal society....even the naughtiest of girls will not like to be seen to be groped in public by a foreigner, after all they are labelled badly just being with you by some...so don't add fuel to the fire.

I have NEVER kissed my wife in public in Thailand in 11 years.
