Without trying to sound girly......as i will be there for 9 days in 2 weeks time and counting my mate says just pack shorts and t-shirts nothing else.......Do u not need jeans and shirts to get into the clubs and stuff?

In the last 10 years I have never been out after darkk in shorts...particularly in bangkok.....guys in shorts and vests just look plain ****in' stupid after dark...wherever they are.

Phuket is a little different....no real dress codes....depends how you feel about yourself. Just be yourself....easy really

i would take a pair of jeans ,but as for t-shirts they are so cheap to buy at the markets etc id get them out there
i hardly take any with me ,just buy em out there.i am lead to belive they do a nice line in hawian type shirts which seem to be popular with the more descerning members

It depends how u feel. Me and my m8 are 19 so we prefer to get dressed up when we go out as opposed to the older guys who tend to wear t-shirts and shorts.
Trust me, if u make a bit of effort to get dressed up, the girls DO notice. We get so much attention, they really like to see a guy looking smart.
But then it can get a little uncomfortable with the heat.
I personally enjoy looking good when i go out, i mean, u wana look ur best!
Personal preference i suppose

Without a doubt you are right. When you look good you feel good, and the girls would rather be humped off a 19 year old in his fake Armani trousers and shirt from Harry the Tailor, than some 79 year old crusty old maggot, BUT, I will be the first to say Im not slim or sexy, but I have seen more sex than a policemans torch, and I didnt go out looking like a Gianni Versace catwalk queen

You also said "We get so much attention". A guy could go in and look like a buffalo, but if he has 2,000 baht to give, and you have 1,000 then YOU might be going back to your room to shuffle with your knuckles!!!

Of course Im joking and taking it a bit extreme, but I have had plenty of good looking girls AND guys (ladyboys) who would loooooovvvvvveeee to marry me

Jokes aside, it is nice if you feel good when you go out, but ALWAYS remeber, they dont love you. Its a job, a meal ticket. You are making them have sex when they may not want it. THEY need or want the money. You could be dressed like Batman and you would still get a shag in Thailand.

Probably lots more than normal

Come on Mike...go easy on the young 'uns...they are better looking than us oldies and the girls want them....of course the fact we speak way better Thai and have more money has got nothing to do with it...but the chances of a young guy stealing a girl of me are NIL....

It's funny how every guy in every category feels he fits into what the girls want....it's their job to make you feel that way.....anyway I'm glad I don't have to play these games any more....though the odd shag might help....LOL

And as an older guy...may I point out that I said I wouldn't been seen dead after dark in short and everyone I know is of the same ilk.

No real dress codes in patong but I think in som sitiuasjons it is nice
To dress up. like in resturants and if you go to see the tempels.
I spent 2 days on a trip whit 5 BG in the back of pic up truck
Wisiting tempels and som remote villages. and when the sky opend and
It started reining I whas werry happy to have a pare of jeans to put on.
On the back of a pick up in 120 kmt it is real cold when it rains.:p

ha ha. but we dont go out to impress the bar girls or freelancers, which is where everyone else on this board seems to differ from us. I have lots of thai friends, from university and through contacts, who are not *****s, but are educated decent people. And these are the type of girls that i like to get dressed up for

About 90% of my thai friends have a lot more money than me! Many related to the royal family...rich bastards! But then its not hard, considering the extent of the size of the royal family!
And as for the fake Armani, i prefer to bring my REAL clothes from uk, than to buy clothes that will fall apart in 2 days! ha ha.
As for talking thai, i think my thai is quite good, and i am currently learning how to write. Because my thai friends have such good english, they can teach me proper thai as opposed to the bar girls who will teach you "sawat-di ......mai pen rai.......kop khun..." nope, i doubt there is anymore! ha ha.
No offence intended...just some polite banter back! ha ha.
I think we both have a great love of thailand......just for different reasons possibly!

Of course just a bit of banter...the the person you describe in your thread bears no relation to me.

I speak bar girl Thai....ask my wife if thats the case? Most Thai's tell me I speak the most correct Thai...how to order a drink in the correct manner....correct word for the toilets, etc...no "hong naam" or "aww bia iik" here. Married, children, lived here for over 10 years....I drink in bars yes maybe once a month in Patong and it gets rarer and rarer, though I enjoy a night out in BKK...it dependson the company....but yes gogo bars are on the agenda occassionally as is the Bamboo Bar of the Oriental, the ShangriLa...Clunb 87, Conrad etc....

The reason no young guy could steal a girl off me...is I don't have any girls to steal....bit of a trick question really...LOL.

I have many rich thai friends...particularly in Bangkok.....a lot have them have more money than me...but not 90%....

Some will be most influencial when my application for permanent residency goes in...and maybe even the Thai passport eventually.

I don't bring any clothes from the UK....rarely go there, I open my wardrobe to get the real stuff.

My original reply was meant light heartedly as is this one...glad you took it that way...though I suspect you spend more time in BKK than Phuket?...not that many really classy places here.

Im glad you took it all light hearted.
Good for you for learning to write thai. It is a lot easier than you would imagine.
I have neglected my studies because of one thing and another recently, but im now starting to get into conversational thai, such as "what did you do today/yesterday? " and things like that which will get a two way flow. The hardest part is I can only put it into practice when I go to thailand.

Why do you have the name 'I love aaliyah'? Is it the name of a girl you met on holiday?

Tell us a little bit more of your experiences in thailand. You have obviously had a couple.

Schmeen, u r right, she was a R&B singer and died after a plane crash.

But... going back 2 the dress code subject, for me... i take some jeans with me, i mostly go out with long jeans, also when u sit ouside... the musquito's will bite by dusk. And a few t-shirts, they are so cheap, u better buy them there, sometimes bad quality, but some remain 2 years already! so not everything is low quality!

But wear where u (new boy) feel comfortable in, no special dress code in the clubs.

Good luck with your coming trip, i am sure u will enjoy it!

I remember my first time. I was BLOWN AWAY

One night, me and my friend were in Tai Pan and he got talking to a ladyboy. They talked a long time. Later he told me the ladyboy said "You havent truly experienced Thailand until you have been with a ladyboy".

We thought long and hard (about 5 seconds!) and decided they were right!!

When in Rome!!!

So, I ended up with the ladyboys friend (also a ladyboy). That was me. I was fascinated. The ladyboy I was with was incredible. What a time I had. They stayed with me for the rest of my holiday, and when I went back to Thailand (2 weeks after getting home!), they stayed with me for another 2 weeks.

I had a brilliant time, and I saw them just over a year ago, but now they are in prison for drugs offences. Never mind! Plenty more where they came from.

The bizzarre thing was they were born on EXACTLY the same day as the girl I had just broke up with in England. Same age and birthday. I checked her passport. Unreal.

So............ if you do end up by accident in bed with a ladyboy, just make sure you get blown away before you throw them out

I dont have too much experience of thailand, only had 2 trips but feel as though i know the place pretty well.
Im going again on 27th june till august 14th. just me and my best friend going this time, but meeting up with a lot of people out there.

Had some amazing times in thailand......could never explain to people how good it is.
A friend of mine owns all the "Le meridien" hotels in south east asia (from india to japan) so we're getting 5* hotels for free

Most of my friends and contacts are in Bangkok but got some good friends in Phuket too. Being driven around Phuket Island in a suped up honda civic at 4am in the morning makes for so much fun!

I am also going to take a trip to the full moon party this time, and to Koh Samui. Never been before.

Even though my experiences are somewhat different to u guys, i still enjoy reading everything u guys write....makes for good entertainment, and i can certainly see where u guys are coming from. I mean a 40 year old moaning english woman, or a 25 year old thai beauty? well done guys!

The girls that i hang round with are at university (Chula and Rama mainly). Its like, the same level of beautyas bar girls, but with class, intelligence, and a lot of money

Plus, i have thai guy friends as well, very cool guys.

I will be staying in Phuket for about 4 weeks. Im an opened minded youngin, and wouldnt mind meeting up with anyone for a drink at the infamous Mai Thai bar, although ive never been there before.

I rarely post on this board, but read it daily, and have done for the past 2 years or so.

Ok, ill leave it there for now. Got a lot of stuff to say...but i find that i talk to much once i start...so keep my thailand memories hidden within my smile

mmm....a few stories. Well i can think of one to hand.

The last time we went, 2 other friendscame with us. One friend is a very good boy - intellectual, doesnt really drink, doesnt smoke, doesnt play about with girls.

So, we thought it our duty to take him to Patpong for the first nite, just to initiate him to the culture

So we go to this bar (not a gogo bar) and just have a few drinks. By a few drinks...i mean about 8 tequilas!!!
By which point he was quite paralytic!So then, we thought he was ready for a trip to a go go bar.
So we go in this bar, and sit down, and then get some drinks. The 4 of us were sitting in a line on a leather couch, and this friend of ours was sitting on the end. Anyway, as expected, a girl comes and sits next to him, and starts talking to him. Im sitting next to him, and by which time he is feeling rather bad and says to me " i feel really sick, if anyone touches me im guna throw up". And as per usual, the girl slides her hand up his leg, aiming for his crotch,when suddenly, he pukes all over her!!!!!
Oh my god, it was like out of a movie. The girl was screaming hysterically, he was still throwing up all over the bar, and me and my other 2 friends could do nothing but laugh!!!
We apologised to the girls of course and then thought it fitting we should leave.
So we tell him we want to go to a private party, which he is not up for at all. Yet we drag him in the taxi, and we're heading down the main road. Suddenly he feels the urge to throw up, and just opens the door of the taxi in the middle of the bloody road travelling at like 40 mph! the taxi driver was going ape shit!
I know it probably doesnt sound too funny, but if u knew this guy,it was the most funny thing. He didnt drink for the next 17 nights! And he did remain true to his statement.....he didnt sleep with one girl!

Another story that comes to mind is when i was in Phuket.

We had a really good night out, so we wanted to do something memorable, so that we would never forget it.
during the night we had got speaking to these 2 english girls. We were walking them back to their hotel when suddenly we had a brainstorm.....lets leave our clothes with the girls...and the 4 of us boys would run into the sea naked! So we go to the beach at about 4am, and we all get our kit off. The other 3 boys kept their boxers on, but i thought, what the ****, i mite as well go all the way.
Anyway, we left our stuff with the girls and headed for the water. It was pretty cool, so we didnt want to stay in the water too long. Anyway, after about 5/10 mins we head back. But in the distance, there seems to be more figures than just the 2 girls. When we got closer, it became apparent that the extra 9/10 figures were ladyboys!!!! They started heading for us....so we were like "****...what should we do?"
It was quite scary having that many ladyboys chasing u! So we ran, naked, from the beach,over the beach road, along the beach road, and headed into our hotel (Patong Merlin) were we jumped straight into the swimming pool.
Then the security guard came round, and we were expecting a telling off, but instead he was smiling at us in a perverted way, so then we sent one of the guys back to collect the stuff off the girls, and he escaped luckily!
It was such a funny time in retrospect, yet scary at the time!
I suppose that would have been Mike GBs heaven!
