Hua Hin

Has any one been to Hua Hin?
What does it compare to, maybe koh Samet?, i heard that it is quiet but does have a small amount of bar action.
Any visitors there, what did you think, what are the average LT prices etc.

Any info appreciated, thanks

I was recently there in October and leaved the first day when it started to rain heavily in Hua Hin.
I can not recommend HH city itself like this (city beach is a total crap), but just find a hotel south to HH - beach is called Khao Takiab - it is very popular amongst locals and gets crowdy on weekends. This means also that some Thai language knowledge is warmly recommended - and I do not have this knowledge, but still managed somehow

Answers to Your important questions - I was there with my missus from Estonia , so not so much comments about ST either LT prices, etc...

There is some bar action of course in HH, and much more are seen really "mid-aged" farangs walking on streets around with young TG compared with Phuket scene.

But anyway relaxed and nice place - and what is the most important thing IMHO - when it rains in Phuket, it does not rain in HH and vice versa.
This fact I will take into account when planning my next year trips to LOS.

Hi steveski I have been to Hua Hin twice recently, Aug and Oct Here is a site with maps and info :- http://www.huahinafterdark.com It is a small town dominated by the Hilton Hotel. All action is around a small block at this area. It's very relaxed and the bar girls are really into playing pool. Prices are cheap. Eating out is very cheap. Sea Bass + shrimp meal type banquet with beers etc for 2 came to about 800baht. Same in patong cost me 1,500+ I did hear a rumour that the Soi Bintabaht area is to be cleared of the Beer Bars and 'proper' hotels will replace them. The Beer Bars would relocate in town about 3K inland !!! Time frame 2 years ???? I also enjoyed the golf as there are several top courses in the area. Regards H3X
