Stick it on your checklist on "must haves" when looking for a room, if it hasn't got one then I would give it a miss and look for one that does.

Now if we told you Darbs then it wouldn't be a secret anymore , everyone would know and it wouldn't be safe.
I think if I was long term and if no facilities at rented house I would think that I don't have a safe at home and I do have locks on my door heck hide them in a good place, if you are worried then things you do not need everyday like passport etc I would rent a safety deposit box at the bank or buy a cheap home safe, but if the burgler breaks into the house he can always steal a safe.

When I moved here one of the first things I bought was a safe, it is not that expensive.

Regarding safety box at the banks, I asked long time ago and I have to say it is not easy to get one, all rented out.
Same with PO box, you may have to wait for a while until there is one available.

Good Business Opportunity For Someone
Sounds like I am not the onlyone thinking of hiding and looking after valuables
as its the most important thing that most of us will Bring that can be kept
in a smallish box .
maybe that's the business to get into in patong, safety boxes for tourists
or anyone come to think of it. all you would need is a shop front with
2 Dogs and Denver on the front Desk and a few really strong lockers
hook up a few cctv cameras and its job Done

Buy a safe and have it properly bolted down and installed.. Can be put under a sink etc so damage to flooring is hidden..

Or buy a bigger safe and fill it with concrete bricks, lead or whatever.
