Is Phuket good to visit in June, July, August time?
I know theres more rainfall and its less busy but is it still busy and a good nightlife still or does it not come to life until the high season? + Could you still sunbathe in June, July, August time in Phuket or would the rain put a stop to that?
Thanks all

Great time to go, lot hotter with chances of rain but usually not horrendous just an hour or so, nightlife is still great, I prefer this time of year as still loads of girls and action but can get seat at bars, if you want to know about sun tan go look for pictures of Ashley on his July trip, never seen anyone get more tan than him. come to think of it perhaps ashley was there september and it was IJ that got a good tan in July, feck as I get older the trips seem to merge into one long good time.

Probably my fave time of year..
To be honest the christmas and new year busy thing makes me a little stir crazy.. Good to see all the lads in town and there is a increase in women but an increase in competition for them too..
June to Aug is much more relaxed..

june 2005
June 2005 was great for my first trip to Phuket, the weather was more than acceptable with no prolonged periods of rain
I'm not into major crowds so the reduced numbers of tourists were a bonus to me and I can't get my head around my main holiday being in European winter months. If I had more hols at work and the £££ a Winter trip wouls still be my second choice.
I suppose the only draw back in my book was that the sea was very rough on some of the beaches , particularly Karon, so wasn't able to enjoy "playing" on all the beaches I visited
regards and happy new year to everyone

Good time of year but very dangerous sea currents for swimming.

Been twice this period and have been lucky with not too much rain......l prefer it than Xmas.....it's cheaper and not so much of a rat race as it is here now in Patong......mind u NYE was a blast, but give me the low season any day.

Coming to Phuket in July
Glad to see someone else will be there in July. I will be there with the Mrs from July 20 to the 27th. I am really anxious to meet as many of you guys as would like to. I have been sandbagging in this forum so long I feel like I know many of you already.
The plan for this trip is to look for a house or villa to buy for our retirement in 10 years. Anyine know a good realestate agency to help me in this? We are both very nervous about the complications involved in buying in Thailand.

I visit Patong 3 weeks In July 2005 and its raining about 5 min round 7 pm,its the time when you take it easy after a tuff day in the sun with your lady in one hand and a good drink on the other hand. I have the same planning about my future but I still havent decide if I want to live in Thailand or Mallorca. Its much cheaper in Thailand but Mallorca its closer to Sweden and closer to winter skiing in the Alps so I dont know yet. Take a look on SIAM REAL ESTATE they have many nice villas to sell. If I choose to retire in Phuket I gone buy something in Chalong or Rawai.
See you all in July

I definiteley prefer May - September. It's cheaper, quieter and the bar girl/BM ratio goes up 3 or 4 fold

I like either June or Septober in Phuket. OK the tailor-punter ratio is down and they are in your face a bit more as there is less of a crowd to hide behind but I do like it a bit less crowded. Everything is cheaper in the shops and stalls to aim at less buyers IMHO etc etc. There also seems to be more of an 'Older Fart' element there i.e. late 30's - 40's and over. Most of the girls are still there and the BG's who just aim at the younger punter or out price themselves in high season (2000+Baht etc) when I have been there in high season are now scrabbling for the 1000, which is fun also!
Anyway after saying all that!!! I am limited to my time this year due to contracts etc and aiming at bloody April. Looking at the Forum it has the potential to be a BM busy period and should be a laugh! Fingers crossed the plans come together, work permitting and we can all have a few soaked through cold ones at MTB again.

Do the bars and discos shut earlier during July/August as I'm interested but if there's no possibility of still being on the piss at 6am etc. then I may well wait until the H/S

Yes, the sea can be pretty rough during that period with big waves and the strong underwater currents ( strømninger )
