General forum etiquette

I have posted a stickie in the "newbies" forum about general forum etiquette. I encourage all users to have a read.

We seem to be seeing a large increase in posts which just include 'LOL' or a string of smilies. These posts add absolutely no value to anything, and will be deleted from now on.

Thank you

I can't help feeling that perhaps this has evolved as a result of the reputation system being taken away, as it's a way of showing appreciation for a post that a person has read and liked.

Good post

There is an example of what is happening, and I seem to remember when the rep system was taken away people said that if you wanted to show their appreciation they could post saying so. However since then, the board has grown with more people posting. I guess people should use PMs wherever possible.

Value?? And what, pray tell, was the value of the "Nothing" thread?
Not that I am concerned about it, mind you!
