Kenapa kita hanya cari makan...?

I wonder if anyone of you also ponder like I do..why is it, it seems that no matter how hard I work..it only seems like cari makan only? I recall when I first joined the working world that my dream was to be rich!! But somehow and somewhere along the way...most of us just compromised on our dreams to be rich and just accepted this "cari makan" syndrome...

In general, it is because first you have to work hard, and save as much as possible of your earnings, until you have acquired some capital. Then you have to invest the capital, thereby undertaking some risk, in order to make a significant return on your capital. Then you have to reinvest the gains you have made in any ventures which are successful. Greater risks can bring greater gains and build wealth much faster, but can also result in a loss of your capital, if your investment is unsuccessful.

If you work to save money, then reward yourself for your hard work by treating yourself to enjoyable vacations in LOS or elsewhere, and are always just scraping the money together for your next holiday, then the best(and possibly only) way to get rich is to buy a winning lottery ticket.

Exceptions to the above are if you get rich by acquiring wealth that another has accumulated, by inheritance, gift, marriage, or fraud. Or by investing borrowed money, but people will rarely lend you substantial sums of money unless you have very good collateral, i.e., you have already built up some capital yourself.

There is a saying that nobody ever got rich working. By and large, that is true, with the exception of people with peculiar talents which are highly compensated(athletes, actors, artists), but, in fact, those people often undertake great risks just by attempting to make their living in such professons, where most fail miserably, and make less than the average worker. Wealth is made by taking risks, which usually means investing.

I remember as a kid my father telling me to only ever work for myself and to not work on a clock.. He pointed out that even a well trained surgeon or lawyer who can charge a few hundred bucks per hour has limited hours in the week so basically there is a cieling on your earnings..

Someone striking a deal can hit the ball out of the park on one lucky deal.. Then again he was a bit of a rainbow chaser like me so ?!?!?

While everything you say is true, you gotta have money to make more money in this world. And earning that first capital is probably the biggest problem.
But what do i know, im not born with a silverspoon in my mouth, neither do i have a rich relative or a trust fund.

Your father was a wise man. What he says is simple and true. The opposite of my father, who always said you must have a job, took no risks, and advised me never to quit a job before the next one is lined up. Bad advice, which fortunately for me, I ignored.

It would seem that his advice paid off for you, which offers proof that he was right.

To climb the mountain of financial success, getting that first leg up, and finding a foothold is not an easy trick for one who begins at the bottom. It involves some combination of 3 things: 1)hard work, 2)cleverness, 3)cultivating people.

The first two are obvious. The third is not as easy to put in words, but, basically involves cultivating yourself first, by which I mean, that you have to generate a positive aura, a good energy around yourself. To do so, just work on improving yourself, your body, your mind, your skills, your attitude. You are your most important product. When you cultivate yourself successfully, it is like when a farmer takes excellent care of his field, and brings forth the best crop. Then everyone wants some of his produce. You are what you produce. If you are positive, happy, interesting, and have something to offer people, then they will come to you, because they are drawn by your aura, and they will bring opportunites for you with them.

That is how you get a foothold. What you do after that is a bit more complex.

I should point out that being a rainbow chaser can also lead to long periods of no money and rough times.. Especially if it is combined with a healthy gambling type personality (which it often is)..

I also think that the most important thing is not schooling, not training but having a lot of self confidence and when it all goes wrong being prepared to start it again.. Having biz's crash and burn is part of learning how to run them or what not to do next time.

One thing I had done in my times with odd chancey angles was run warehouse parties, That was in my late teens so I was kinda used to making 10+K GBP in a weekend and losing a soundsystem the next.. Boom bust operations for sure !!
