Hey all, just a few questions, thx.
gday all Mark from australia here....been reading a forum for a few days, great place to learn about thailand.
3 mates are planning our first trip to thailand in around May.... Our trip will mostly be, 1.Nightlife, 2.Seeing some islands, 3.Doing some fun activitys, etc..... Q1, May is the time we can go, is May an ok time to visit thailand for 2weeks? Q2, Reading the forums i get the jist that phuket is very crowded and is more exspensive so we were thinking of staying in either pattaya or patong ? Q3, Obviously you need to book accomodation, so what area would be the best for pattaya or patong for nightlife and accessability to activitys/having some fun? Q4, Do some people just fly over and find a place to stay when they get there? or is that a little to risky. Q5, We will visit bangkok for a few days sometime in the 2weeks but is Shopping in pattaya or patong just as good as bangkok? Q6, Obviously Bar girls are a goer but do you also see many western girls etc ? Q7, The islands, overnight trips? can you just head to an island and book accomadation on the day and spend the night there? Q8, LOL this question, NOT into ladyboys, is there any way to actually know if you are chatting one up/spending the money and then finding out? bit rude asking i suppose but what happens here? LOL Q9, Activitys- what are we looking at here? watching fights/pingpong, water activitys, heaps more? thanks heaps if you can take some time and head us in the right direction... cheers.

Ok May is the time we go then....great Ok so what i really need to know then, is Pattaya just as good a phuket or not? I hear pattayas night life is one of the best which is our number1 thing  , and does pattaya have all the activitys that say phuket might have? and if booking somewhere to stay in pattaya, which "suburb"(i dont know if you guys call them suburbs in thailand LOL) would be the best location for us? close to nightlife etc.thanks, bedtime here, adios. PS: i know what LB BG TG mean, but what does falang mean? also other short words people use on here would be greatful, thanks.

Is Pattaya just as good a phuket or not? I hear pattayas night life is one of the best which is our number1 thing
, Pattaya has the best nightlife. Bigger, more gil1s, much better gogo bars (around 60) and hundreds of beer bars. and does pattaya have all the activitys that say phuket might have? yes and also cheaper except the beach is rubbish..you will need to go Jomtien for example for a better beach experience. and if booking somewhere to stay in pattaya, which "suburb"(i dont know if you guys call them suburbs in thailand LOL) would be the best location for us? close to nightlife etc. Soi 6 or Soi 7 or Soi 8 for beer bar action...suggest Flipper Lodge Soi 13..Sandy Spring Hotel..nearer to walking street where most of the action will be found. In fact if you stay at any of the hotels along Beach Road, travelling should be no problem as there are plenty of baht buses going round...10 baht that's all. falang/farang...doesn't apply to me I guess..more towards you white people foreigners. Pattaya beach is terrible and the water is questionable to swim in. Saying this, patong is not the best beach on Phuket. Karon, kata etc are better and are within reach of patong. I dont want to tell you what you should or shouldnt do but it would be a real shame for you and your mates to visit Thailand but not experience things other than its nightlife and the odd island. Bangkok or Chiand Mai are great places to get to see the non-tourist side of Thailand. While your at it you will no doubt run into plenty of Thai girls, probably with less motivation to extract money from you than their Phuket or Pattaya counterparts.

Q6 is what stopped me. One of the BMs (can't remember offhand which one) has the signature "Once you go Asian, you'll never go Caucasian" or something like that. Truer words have never been spoken. Hard to visualize from where you are, but trust me, LOS will make you a believer!

BTW...I have a caucasian girlfriend who also likes the asian girls so life couldnt be better for me. Trust me when I say falang women have at least 2 big plus points!  C66*

Generalising farang women as having fat arses and big mouths isnt funny...it just shows a lack of respect towards women.
