But I phone with skype, wich is even better.

I think about 1.004 €/minute

I have found a phone card called "Thai Call".

I purchased a £20 card and got an extra £5 free and the cost to me was £11.50

It gives me a free-phone number to dial and therefore I don't get charged for making the calls and it gives me 1,200 minutes to Thai mobiles.

That mean that it costs 1,200 / £11.50 which works out at £0.00958 per minute.

I have yet to see anything beat that.

I also bought one of those cards called "Top Time" rather cheap but it takes like 5 min just to dial all those numbers which kinda sucks. I dont call that often so Skype is good enough for me. And also the sound quality on Skype is better then with "Top Time"

i still thank her when i see her in patong.

this bg used to phone me all the time when i went back home, i asked about the cost she said no problem, it so expensive you think.

never looked at the cost but when i los i call home with my thai dtac phone, and it doesnt seem to bad on cost

when i was living in los(not the bm) last year, i couldnt tell you the amount of drunk phone calls i made to my friends back in the states, it is really cheap for a direct dial

Cheap is a very relative definition i would say, and it pretty much depends on how much money you have to start with doesnt it? For me to call with my cellphone to Sweden from Thailand cost me, 2,81$ per minute, to me thats a whole lot of money if you wanna call for lets say 10 min every second day under the 22 days i was there, thats 309$ Thats a whole lot of money to me for just calling. And Dtac didnt work in my phone, no clue why.

What the guys talking about is calling from a thai telephone company, not their own countrys phone companys...
If you call from your own phonenumber it is very expencive.... And stupid.

Why didnt you buy a second hand phone? Cheap and you can sell it when you go home if you want the money back...

Skype is great for people already online and for cheap calls..

Cellphone costs here for calling are not high.. Even international calls are about 6 baht per min IIRC..

I used to use Skype a lot, but got a bit fed up with the voice distortion and length of time delay, which appeared to be a bit longer than using a telephone, hence I have now switched back to phone cards for the time being. If your TG has a computer and Skype installed, then as far as I am aware, Skype to Skype calls are free, even international calls, but how many TG's have their own PC ??

You also NEED a broadband connection (that works) to really use skype..

Though if I had a TGF I would think about getting her both a cheap computer and broadband to save on the calls..

Remember how i complained about the quality being so bad with Skype and having huge delays etc. It seems alot better now, been very clear for a week now, dont know what happend. Oh well it works quite good now, so 180min for 11Euro is affordable, and its very comfortable to just push a button instead of dialing 300numbers with the same quality or even worse sometimes.

I don't mind dialling loads of number, but just once, at the start - the problem is when you get cut-off unexpectedly and have to keep keying in 30/40 numbers Perhaps if Skype is a bit better now, I might give them a try again.
