Not absolutely certain but Soi Paradise is the gay section of town.. I think the royal paradise is behind that section.. Near all the gay gogo's, rent boys, gay massage and saunas..

I wouldnt stay there if I was paid.. Used to be a hassle when simple computers had a shop round there, couldt get in without being propositioned by over enthusiastic rent boys..

Hotel itself is pretty nice - especially suites on upper floors and great views over Patong Bay. Problem with rent boys in this area if your not with your g/f, wife etc can be annoying and hotel is popular with asian tour groups.

I stayed there for a week last September. Although it is close to the gay soi I didnt really have that much of a problem. You can go down the other road to get out of the hotel and therefore you bypass the gay soi. Actually closer to bangla road that way. The rooms are OK, great view of phuket, staff good and friendly and there are loads of Japanese tourists there so you may hook up on a little holiday romance there also.

Cheers,

Ashley

..

Unless you're interested in gay or lb's the location is far from perfect and at that price range you could do better, they are not guest friendly either btw
The jap tourists are a blast though if you visit the karaoke bar

I had the privilege of staying at the highest level during one of my trip and the view is great. You can see the entire of patong.
The have a great swimming pool and have a good spread for breakfast.
The room is spacious and clean and the staffs are friendly.
I would recommend it to any BM, the only problem is the price is slightly higher then some other hotel approx. 2700THB for with twin sharing superior room.
I have no problems with the gay boys. There are many ways leading to the hotel and you can even avoid those that the rent boys hang out.
Infact, i hardly see any
If you take a good look at the hotel from the main road, you will notice that its slightly tilted to oneside. Any BM notice this??

Stayed in a guest house near there for a few weeks last trip. Didn't like the gay crowd eye balling me when I would walk home after gym etc. Kind of funny to begin with but that soon wears off. Never went in side the royal paradise but did see lots of japs comming and going.

I think Royal Paradise is a pretty nice hotel with excellent views, and I never had any problems with the gay crowd myself when walking in this area.

But I understand some people may feel uncomfortable, and I guess thats why they made the new entrance road to the hotel from Rat u thit.
