Reccomandations for Tattoo Shop in Phuket

I'm thinking of getting a new piece done during my upcoming vacation. Has anyone on the board gotten a tattoo in Phuket and do you guys have any recommendations on which shops and artists to got too?

I wouldn't mind spending a little more just as long as the artist is reputable and clean. Good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't necessarily good.

There are probably quite a few who has done a tattoo in Phuket. But if you go to a tattoo parlor in the west the recomendations you will get are the following:

Dont swim in a pool or ocean for 1 week to 10 days, due to infection risc obviously. And honestly getting an infection on the arm during a vacation is nothing i would want.

Best get it done at the end of the holiday. The colours on new tattoos fade when exposed to the sun.

Thanks marc26 and ikkhar, I'll make sure to check the guy at soi easy out.

I've actually seen some of jimmy wong's stuff in tattoo mags and online. Good old school stuff. I don't think I'm making it out to bkk for the hooliday though.

Yeah I have had two done recently by him and I am very happy with his work! On the left just before you enter Soi Easy. Might pay to see him first as he can get quite busy and if you leave it till your last day you might miss out.

I guess if you get them done early, as in first few days in town, they would be pretty much healed by the time you are leaving? Or at least you would know if you had a problem with infection before you travel.

I intend to have a little work done next time out because you don't seem to be able to get the nice Thai script over here(UK) and will get it done early rather than late.

yes if you stay 4 months there and that for the first one you re willing not to get a tan, swim and try to sweat as little as possible tattoo healing is to mutch of a pain in the ass to have to go through the prossess on holiday especially with all the girls grabbing your body..lol but could be quite painfull depending where it is.

as for thai scrip in the uk find your word or sentence on the net print it and any professional tattoo artist would be able to ink it for you if you do it in thailand make sure the source where you got your script is "university material" cause if you ask your tilac chance of you having a mispell or water buffalo on your arm could be great

4 months? When was the last time you got a tattoo?

The idea of getting Thai script in the UK is a bad one IMO, a brit would not know what it meant and could well mess it up.

Check the picture in this post. Seems like the tat and the script dont go together. The script means: "My body is falang, but my heart and mind is Thai" and I kind of like the sentiment.

Not necessary. I have the address, telephone and e-mail of the place. I'll keep that in mind though. Wouldn't mind getting inked by a world class artist.

Lucky 7. If you are still interested in getting tattooed in Phuket, I would reccomend Tatto by Aak, in soi Viking. He used to be the partner of the guy in soi Easy, and their styles are similar even if their attitudes are not. I have had 1 tattoo done and 1 modified by Aak and he always spent the time to consult exactly what I wanted and made sure everything was OK before starting. One thing I must say tho, is that he has a heavy hand when doing the Tat, so I hope you have a high pain threshold! Btw. the prices he charges are incredibly close to the prices here in OZ.

Thanks, man. I'll check his work out too. I'm not really too worried about the heavy hand. I had letters done in the Philippines several years ago and they really dig in. I can still feel the raised skin on the tattoo.

i think you should read your post and my reply again i was refering to the fact that you wanted a tattoo done at the begining of your holiday and check that they were no infection while still in los, now as a full healing takes at least 3 weeks you would have to stay a long long time (i said 4 like i could have said 2 or 3 or 8) if you want to really enjoy your holliday (no sun, sand, sea, swimming pool, body to body massage for three weeks is hard over there).but if you stay 1 month and only planing to get up at 6pm everyday eat drink f*ck and go to bed at 6 am then go for it!

as for the thai script i don t know how the brits tattoo but i m pretty sure they do it like the rest .do you think that all tattoo artist speak and understand japanese? nope but it doesn t affect their work when they ink a japanese symbole on someone so if you bring a word or sentence you found on the net and print it on a piece of paper any respectable artist will duplicate it on you perfectly.anyway do it in thailand just make sure to get your word or sentence from someone that read and write perfectly it would be a shame to have something mispell

Point taken about healing time, last one I had took 2 weeks but was black only, I think a little script would take 7-10 days to heal maybe.

As far as the way Brit's tattoo, I assume you are right that they do it the same as everyone else. I think your sarcastic comments were pretty uncalled for as well because I was making a reasonable point. I'll try again.

I don't suppose for a second that the tattoo artists who put japanese symbols on people can read them, nor do I assume that all people who have japanese symbols on their body go to japan.

Now, if I were to get a phrase or sentence tattoed on my person in Thai, sooner or later I am going to visit Thailand and have it seen by Thai people. How much of a pr1ck am I going to look if the tattooist has got the thing upside down or dropped some horrid goolie that left me with something like 'My bathroom is fcuked but my heart and mind are tissue' instead of 'My body is farang but my heart and mind are Thai'. Do you see the difference there?

My point is that I don't read Thai but if I get some Thai written on me then some day soon some Thais will read it. I would like it to be correct.

well i think we re trying to make the same point on this one
but to actualy go to a tattoo parlour in thailand and ask for a sentence would scare the sh*t out of me as you said nor you and me can read it ,to be sure i ll find someone really trustworthy and that has an excellent reading and writting knowlege then i ll go to the tattoist and ask him to duplicate the sentence i brought him.but then again i will have no problem to see my tattoist in france and ask him to do it (and he already has) as i trust him with needles and i know no goolies would be made and you can easyly correct it if it s upside down by the predrawing applyed on your skin before he start to ink it.
