Official appology.
To whomever it may concern.
I've caused alot of steam on the board lately, and alot of that from my thread about Internship. I know everyone was trying to help, but i guess i was just so certain about how it worked that i put on a deaf ear or blind eyes rather when it comes to the board.
It's been a rough time for me to say the least, my los blues this time has been extremely severe as i have not been able to keep busy with anything when returning from LOS with a broken heart. All i wanned was to go back again. As some people wrote "Im living in a dreamworld" and i suppose i was for a while. I guess couldnt accept that im not gonna see my girl or return to my favorite place on earth for a long time. Now its been a while, and getting perspective on things maybe this is for the best. Dont get me wrong tho, i still have extremely strong feelings about this girl, but atleast i dont spend my entire days just thinking about her as i did in the beginning.
With a few new job interviews coming up i guess im slowly returning back to the reality of life, while i still enjoy dreaming about my next trip whenever i can. You guys have been a very big help during these hard weeks and i appreciate every reply i got and every single PM.
So once again, im very sorry for the steam i caused and ill promise ill ring the bell next time im in MTB to make up for it

Good to see you're getting interviews , best thing to do is try your hardest to get a job , save a bit of cash and return to LOS for another holiday . A lot of people dream about living in LOS but it is not that easy , most of those who have done it have spent many years working hard and putting cash away to finance their lifestyle.
There are many BMs who are willing to offer advice ,and know the ins and outs of living in LOS , but advice is only useful if you are prepared to listen.
I think that now you have got over "the blues" and started to look more realistically at the situation , you will see the truth in the replies you got.
I really hope that one day you will be able to live your dream , but for the moment , get a job , save some cash and look forward to your next trip.

Good luck on the upcoming interviews.
It takes a big man to publicly admit that he was wrong, and I think all BM's will respect you for that.

good on ya
as others have said - takes a big man to apologise in such a public way.
IMO there's fuc* all wrong with your attitude or take on things that a little more milage and experience won't cure. I followed THE thread but refrained from joining the general merriment cause i hadn't anything helpful to contribute.
wish i'd discovered LOS at your age. hold onto your dreams, 1st step in turning them into reality
good luck, my man

What else can I say than repeating my slogan-for-life. Live your dream, but as it was said before, it´s hard work, you probably need to put a lot of money aside and all that... but it is all very worthwhile

Good luck with the interviews and hopefully a job will be forthcoming.
Don't be too hard on yourself, I think most of us can remember back to the time when we were the same age as you and we had dreams and ambitions as well, maybe not about LOS Sometimes it's hard when you get something in your head that you like and want to happen, but other people tell you it can't/won't happen - even the best amongst us sometimes refuse to accept what we don't like hearing, nobody's perfect but I always think it's good to try and learn from such things.
See you in MTB some time for a beer

Good luck with everything Jim...I read the post to which you refer, and my heart went out to you, we've all been there to some degree or other I suspect....
Anyway, you have so much time on your side, you discovered LOS at such a good age (maybe that's a bad thing !!!?) but keep up the job chasing and you'll get back there soon.
Personally, since I discovered LOS in my late 30's, I've never been anywhere else since!!!! Trip 10 coming up.....

Gotta admit, I made the same mistake on this board as I think I was in the same sort of mindset as Jimholio.
Stumbling across LOS when you are a young guy and quite inexperienced can really play with your emotions, but after coming back, thinking long and hard about it all and getting back into the swing of your shitty home country you tend to get a more realistic perspective on the situation.
Cant beleive how close I was to getting this this Thai girl back over to London and perhaps even getting married.... I had everything set, was about to move into a one bedroom flat rather than sharing with friends, was approaching Thai resturants to see if work was going for her, checking all the documentation needed and everything and even got the linguaphone set.
Perhaps it could have all worked, but wow what a HUGE commitment that would have been, and with the fact I was still not 100% sure she was not just using me as an ATM was still at the back of my mind.
Just really wish I had not had laid it on so thick with all my promises, she still phones me everyday, I just dont answer any more, I have like over 25 missed calls from her in total (just got another one will writing this which is quite scary). If it is not just to cry or shout at me it will either be that she is pregnant or has AIDs which I just dont think I can handle knowing right now. As far as I remember I never came inside her, and I do plan to pop to the clinic in the next few weeks. But that is all going off the point.
All I can advise, is to find someone in you're own country, even if you dont really like that much, it will take your mind off the whole situation and help you get a perspective on the situation. I now have an Ozzie girlfriend, she is abit chubby and moody, the relationship will not last long but has helped me get over a few things mentally.
Sorry if I caused any offence before, the whole thing was eating me alive. Oh, and srry if I hijacked this thread

To Baka-boy
It's always good to hear other peoples stories.
A great quote anyway, made me laugh.

Well done Jimholio and Baka-boy.
It DOES take bottle to admit you are wrong, especially after arguing your point for a long time. To Jim,good luck with the job interviews, get your head down in a job for a while, save like mad,and make a return trip with your eyes open and treat LOS for what it is.....Adult Disneyland. Enjoy it for what it is,a great holiday destination and not a place to earn a living.
I guess when I was 23, I too was pretty headstrong, and a trip to LOS at that age for me would have messed with my head as well. Just remember that the advises given here by LIL and other Expats are to be taken, whether they fit in with your ideas or not.

If travelling (and as great as Thailand is its not the only place in the world) is a strong desire then look hard at the oil industry..
Right now with oil near 70 a barrel again the industry is under staffed.. Theres more work around than for the last few years and its well paid.. My housemate (very experienced and with a long history of working hard in dumps all over the world) was just offered work in the Carribean month on month off..
The life isnt without its downsides (can play hell with your relationships, can be very tough to do those months away, you work like very hard on your month on, etc) but its the only carear / job based work I know of that gives you high paying positions and 6 months a year free time.
Even if its something you would need to do a few years apprenticing to get into, your still young and it would have you earning and having freedom of time while in your 20's.. Norway is paying high rates for N sea work I hear (dont know if it can be tax free there tho) and theres even a post on here advertising oil posistions..
Just my 2 satangs..
