Opportunities for plumbing
Anyone know if there is a particular need for plumbers in the LOS? Would like to live out there and just wondering the work permit situation etc. as a plumber, any help appreciated!

if your lucky,
i thought about the air conditioning side ,but the visa would be mega problem and why would they employ you when they can employ their own.
have thought about starting a air conditioning service company ,but i think the are way to many pit falls involved.
best bet is to find a opening in a major europeon/American company, then look for a position within the company out there.
good examples are Nokia or Addidas for example

Manual Labor stuff really doesn't pay very well in SE Asia, un like in the West.
From what I hear, Patong has no shortage of BGs out there to clean pipes.

but nothing to stop u considering operating ur own business regarding plumbing, air con etc........ but of course u would have to be prepared to use local labour and ur tender prices to be at competitive rates and take into the consideration the method of pricing, which of course has nothing to do with pricing if u get my drift
So its about directing a thai business with a thai front to deal with thai customers and ur front to deal farang customers
G
ps im thinking i will put up the publsihed list of jobs u can & cant do in LOS, ive goti t somewhere, i will put it up on a seperate thread

We all think about that...
I think that many of us ponder trying out our home careers in LOS. Unfortunately, not many would work out, if you think about it.
You may rethink that position and choose something you could do and that IS possible. Open up a bar or a guesthouse maybe?
For sure, I couldn't do my job there - so I am wracking my brain to come up with something I would enjoy. Not much luck so far.
I may have to wait for retirement, sadly.

I know that the pay wouldn't be great, but as long as it meant I could live there.. who cares? That's my intention anyway as soon as I qualify simply pack up and live abroad. As Thailand is such a rapidly developing country with new hotels etc. I'd have thought the need for plumbers who could deal with local and foreign customers, i.e people who moved out there and need their villa fixing or whatever.
Indeed, if I managed to get a company started, that could be somewhat more lucrative.
