Movies in bars
When I was in Samui a few years ago, lots of bars were showing first run movies on big screens or tv’s. Sure they where just the same dodgy versions you buy on DVD there, but it was fun to grab a beer and some food watching a flick before a big night out.
Any places like this in Patong? I don’t recall seeing last time. This kind of thing was also pretty popular in Phi Phi when I was there last (pre-tsunami). The bars even advertised the titles and times of the movies they were playing each day.

I think one of the cable tv operators in Patong also have their own movie channel with the latest movies. UBC have 4 real movie channels, but showing older movies.

Yeah I remember that in Samui, That was actually a big deal there. Many BM would show up, it was like a great big happy hour. That was really cool now that I think of it. I dont know of any place on Patong that does this. That would be a good idea though.

Yeah I have enjoyed this on Phan Gaan and Samui.. Turn up at a beach bar.. Have a beer while movie is on..
I tend to like to really 'watch' a film and not talk etc but focus on the story of it but if its something you have seen already or a classic or cult type thing its a great happy hour vibe..

In Bangkok
A bar called Woodstock in Bangkok used to show movies in the afternoon. A good place to have a few beers and get out of the heat. The place moved, I think, but I'm not sure if they still show movies. It's a good idea, though. A good way to keep a customer in a bar for a few hours.
