30 day visa question

Hi guys,

I did a search but didn't find anything that specifically answers this.

If I enter LOS on the 30-day visa, then find I want to stay longer (retired so I can go pretty much where/when I please) can I just jump a jet to Penang (love those curries) for a day or so and come back in on another 30 day visa? OR is there a time limit between departure and return on the 30-day freebie?

Thanks in advance.

You can. There was talk or rather threats a while ago about stamping this out, but as usual all hot air nothing came of it.

Why not just get a 60 day tourist visa before you leave home, then you dont have to worry about it.

Thanks Steve,

I tend to be a creature of whim and I was thinking of heading out Monday or Tuesday, not enough time to get a 60 day visa, so just wondered how the 30 day worked. It sounds pretty favorable with the 30 day version.

Thanks again for the reply.

Another option is that you can extend the 30 day visa by I think 15 days, just by going to immigration and paying the fee.

Cool Penang visas

If you are only going to do "turn arounds" to get another 30 day entry then you can fly to Singapore for a day trip and come back.

For Penang if you want a visa: You can fly via KL with Air Asia - my round trip ticket was just over 7000Baht.Then apply for tourist visa at the Thai Consulate. This visa will give you 60 days on entry with a 28 day extension on top if needed. It takes two working days to process but Penang is OK for short trips. You fly in the night before and leave the morning after so it is three nights minimun in a hotel.

Look in the main index for KL and Penang threads.

Thanks guys,

The 15 day extension and/or Singapore options sounds good.

I am just trying to tie things up this end with auto bill-pay etc and if all goes to plan, I may be tossing down a cold one over there soon.

Off to the bank to see how/what auto bill-pay will work with.

Thanks again.
