Reading glasses cheap?

Hi all,

The "new suit" question got me thinking.

The last time I was in Singapore I got several pairs of prescription bifocal glasses for about $US30 each and they had them ready overnight.

What's it like in HKT or BKK for glasses? And I don't mean beer glasses, OK??

Yes, they are cheap, quite a few of my wife's family are in the business, although not in BKK

I just bought a pair of glasses in Chiang Mai.

0.75 on 1 eye and 0.50 on the other. The frame is a Armani and I paid 6000 bath for them. That is about 1/3 of the price for the same glasses in DK so not bad at all.. I went to "Top Charodan optics" or something like that

Didn't find LOS that cheap, though I don't use bifocals.
Currently use www.goggles4u.com (based in Pakistan) for my glasses - dirt cheap and quick!

Thanks a lot that is a very deal !

Cool Cheap readers

If you know your eye sight perscription then you can even buy cheap glasses off the street vendors in Bangla and other places.A set with a case will cost about 300 Baht. These are good to carry around at night so you don't lose expensive ones.

Thanks,

My prescription is a little off the norm and I need bifocals to boot, I'll check them out though. Can't have to many glasses to lose.

No problem - in the past it's taken them around a week to deliver to the UK.
Another good site for glasses is www.optical4less.com , quite a bit more expensive that the other one but they have a better choice of frames e.g. hingless, rimless titanium etc.
