Snakes n Creepy Crawlies

Just thought I would ask everyone the nastiest creature they have come across (ooer) while in Thailand?

I ask because i was visiting my friends shop yesterday and he was busy dealing with a 5ft Cobra. I say he, but it was actually 2 thai guys balanced on chairs with big sticks

Mostly small bugs..

But when i was at Railey Beach 3 years ago they killed a cobra in that size behind the restaurant near our bungalow.
Must have been at least 15 guys with long sticks hammering like crazy on that poor snake...

(We had dinner at an other restaurant .... )

The 3 most horrible creatures I've seen in LOS:
1st time was in 2000 when a medium sized green snake crossed the restaurant on Patong beach (the small ones at the intersection of sawadirak and thaweewong road, that have been demolished now).
2nd time: in february 2002 when I saw a shark, only a few meters away from me while I was playing jetski.
3rd time was last february when we came back from Phi Phi Island and a cobra snake crossed the road in front of the minibus. I think that the man on the motorcycle was more scared than me.
Regards,
Bobby

I alsmost forgot an horrible TG I've seen in beergarten on Soi 7.

I just saw it's caudal fin. I was on a jetski with the cashier from Bryan's bar, about 300 meters from Patong beach, in the north side of the beach. The fin was not far from us, maybe 3 or 4 meters away form the scooter. It disappeared in the water after a few seconds. Once back to the beach, the girl told about that to the man who rent the jetski. He said that sharks are quite common in Patong but there are not dangerous and stay away from the edge of the beach. Maybe Nicke or another scuba diver can tell you more on this subject.
Regards,
Bobby

Don't worry!

I don't want to scare anyone, but there is a lot of sharks around Phuket.
The good thing is that there is no sharks dangerous to people. I have been scuba diving a LOT around Phuket, and I often see sharks. That's actually what I want to see in the water too.
Keep in mind that there are somewhere between 500 and 700 (depence where you look it up) different types of sharks, but you can count on one hand the ones that are dangerous to us people.
As far as I know there are no record of anyone killed or injoured by sharks in Phuket water.

So my advice to you all; If you happen to se a shark in the water in Phuket, stay in the water and look as closely as you can! It's not often you are going to get that sight again, and I think the shark is much more afraid of you than you are afraid of the shark! So, stay in the water and enjoy the rare sight!!!

Thaiger.....

the most horrible thing i have seen in phuket is a creature so foul that it is had to belive it exists. i have seen a few of them but i have never had my camera with at the time .
i think the Thai Name for it is Kwai Farang.
they can normally be seen swinging around chrome poles with a bottle of booze in one hand singing god only knows what and thinking they are gods gift to men .
yes you all know you have seen them ,the big ugly europeon women who for some unknown reason think the fellas out there might but remotely interested in them .
the poor lost souls it is a shame they do not realise what we really like .then they would save them selves a fortune by staying in places like Blackpool and Ibiza where they belong .

bit sexist i know but if you guys are honest i think you will all agree with me .

Nastiest Slug In Thailand

Wow...that would have to be a few "2 legged keyboarding saps" that lurk....good thing the sap catcher is now on the job, a little late but still better late than never!

I think these keyboarding saps are a kin to dung bugs
