Short Changed
I'm use to the clerks at 7 and Family trying to rip me off by short changing me. I usually just hold the change in the air and what for 'Oh, solly" and a quick hand over of the 10 or 20 baht they tried to steal. Today it happened again at the Family on Nanai. I held my change in the air and the c-nt behind the counter had the balls to flash a receipt at me for the wrong, higher amount. I looked over and saw he had a wad of receipts lined up with different amounts to rip off any farang who came in. I got my change and grabbed the bogus receipts and took them with me. Asshole

Odd that doesnt seem to happen to me..
I watch my change and bills closely (you would be amazed how oftenb the add it up wrong in 7/11 and FM.. Often in your favour) but dont find this a issue..

I use different 7-11s. & family a lot when I'm there and can honestly say no one has ever tried to rip me off.
One outlet that have tried to scam me on many occasions is the petrol station on Prabaramee rd.
What they do is fail to return the pump to zero from the previous customer.
You ask for say 60 bht worth, the guy puts 40 in and charges you 60.
I've seen them do it on many occasions to falang.
These young guys must make a good living from this scam.
I always make a point of watching the pump display. even then sometimes the attendant will try and shortchange me. If this happens I don't say anything, just keep my hand out and they always put the rest of the change in my hand.
I think if you act like a first timer, you are more likely to be scammed.

Same same. Never been shorted in a supermarket or 7/11 but it seems to be a favourite game at the service stations, not just the one on Prabaramee Road but all over the island.

I was actually given too much change at a 7/11 in Chaing Mai.
Realising this when I got outside the shop, I returned inside and gave them the money back, knowing full well they would have this taken out of their wages by the boss.

It could have happened to me and I would not notice. I generally feel that most Thais I deal with are pretty straight up (most)
I might have posted this before, but worth repeating. I forgot to pick my change up one evening in a bar, I pottered off happy and the girl came running after me with the little silver tray and my change. I just find litttle things like that all the time.
