Unhappy Don’t a judge BG by the (under) cover!

A real sweet seeming girl who I’ve known for 3 months, rings me up the other night, “I leave Samui tomorrow. I stay your house tonight.”
“Fine” I said.
She turns up, and we get chatting. She asks me my birthday, I tell her. “Me same day you!” she says.
“Yer whatever” I reply, thinking she is just fooling around, “No, sure, look my passport” she says taking the document from her bag. True to her word, we share the same birthday, but now here’s me thinking it’s a little unusual for a bargirl to have a passport, and I start flipping through it. In the last few months I see she had gathered stamps from Myamer, Cambodia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Laos! “You never told me you traveled about so much” I say causally, despite thinking what the fcuk!
“Well me sell somethings,” she says and opens up her backpack to revel 10,000 friggn pills!!!
“Holy Sh_t!” I exclaim, wondering do I kick her out right away, or do stay cool – with one eye open until the morning?
“Oh don’t worry,” she laughs upon noticing the blood has drained from my cheeks and turned as white as a Germans gonads.
‘Don’t worry my ar_e!’ is thinking me with visions of the life sentence in the Bangkok Hilton flashing through my brain.
“You want buy?” she say as innocently as someone selling tick-tacs.
“Ah, no thanks,” I say, “Not really my thing.”
“That vee-ee good answer!” she says with a big, satisfied smile.
“Well you ain’t much of a sales person then,” I mumble.
“No,” she says, “I work police.”
“You friggen what!?”
“I work police. They no give me problem, it okay.”
So now I’m real happy for her, she’s got the green light to deal, it’s a cute arrangement, but I’m wondering how the hell it will help me any if a drug squad comes bursting through my front door.
“Police no problem,” she says again, “have problem only big man sell.”
“Huh?”
“Him want kill me, because now I work police. That why I not sleep my room, come stay you”.
“Who wants to kill you?”
“Big man him sell drug. Him shoot man dead before, him look me.” By now I’m kind of feeling a little put off by the whole situation.
“Well why don’t you go stay with the police then?” I suggest whole heartedly.
“No! Him too many man watch police. I go police, him look me for sure. Better I say you.”
“I see,” I said, racking my brains for another way to get rid of her, but then she says, “I leave Samui tomorrow. I want say goodbye some friend, I take motorbike you. Come back few hour.”
“Good Idea!” I say enthusiastically without thinking it though. Overjoyed that she had volunteering to motor away, I press the cold keys into her palm and I open the front door for her. I keep my ears on the bike until it fades into the distance, then I close my door and flop onto the couch, feeling rather frazzled, but glad to be alone. Then all of a sudden it dawns on me, I have a sickly feeling and I think “Oh fcuk!!!” She’s left her bag will 10,000 fcuking pills sitting on my bed!!! So I start getting real paranoid; I’m thinking is this a set up or what? I’m thinking any second now there will blue lights flashing though my windows and big dudes with guns busting into my room, and what am I gonna say, “Oh sorry officer, it ain’t my stuff. Some ****** just left it here and trotted off, but she said you lot wouldn’t mind.”
I’m also thinking that Mr Big Man Drug dealer is gonna knock on my door, and he’s gonna be rather pi_ssed to think it’s me cutting into his turf – and I haven’t even got a beer in the fridge to offer him!
Then I’m thinking, do I ring the police? Do I call them up and tell them the story? Do I just come-clean? Then I’m thinking, ‘come-clean?’ I haven’t even done anything! But somehow I’ve suddenly got a rather nervous and guilty disposition, and maybe they would mistake that for true guilt?
In the end I decide to do nothing, but just sit there looking at the bag on my bed, wishing for it go away. I’m thinking do I toss it out? But I can’t even bring myself to touch the stuff. I sat there five frigging hours, then there’s a knock on the door. I was tempted to play dead, but then I thought, 'Okay, here goes…' and I open up. “Hello tirak” smiles my sweet, innocent, little darling.
“Are you alone?” I ask.
“Me hope so!”
“Me too!”
“Me sleep now. Me go morning,” she says, and out she goes like a light.
No way I was nodding off! I kept listening to all the motorbikes in the distance getting louder and louder, and I breathed a sight of relief as each one faded again.
The sun came up, and then she wakes up. “You look same old man” she says.
“No kidding!”
She dolls herself up and say, “I leave Samui now, not come back long time.”
“I’ll miss you,” I say despondantly. She gives me a hug and then she’s gone.

That story reminds me of when i was in oatong last year. I was with a thai chick driving in her car. Then all of a suddent she gets out some cannabis and starts rolling it whilst driving a long. I became really paranoid, just waiting for the police to pull us over and then wait for her to put the blame on me. Luckily we got from A to B without incident, but it was the scariest 15 min drive i have had!!!

That would the shits. If you kick her out she may get pissed and set you up and call the cops, but if she stays it could be a set up.

Just out of curiousity, what where the pills?

Hindsight: Instead of waiting for her in your room with the bag, you might have considered waiting for across the street at a restaurant from where you could see your door (along with your passport and enough money to get off the island immediately should the bad guys show).

Man, what a freaky situation. Glad you got out OK. Good story for the grandkids.

scary story, i was just waiting for the police sting or the gangsters to turn up.

i would have been tempted when she went out, to put the bag outside the house and go calling on a friend or go to a bar/resturant, anything to be away from the house.

primarily i would have said to her, go take your bag away, but you can stay the night.

If you kick her out she may get pissed and set you up and call the cops, but if she stays it could be a set up

IJ says “I would have kicked her out straight away” I guess I should have, but yer, I was rather worried about pi-ssing her off, now I suppose I was way too worried about that – but really who knows? In such a situation it kind of seems that anything you do might end-up having unpredictable and nasty consequences – maybe I kind of reverted to deciding not to turf her out more on gut-feeling than logic…Not sure myself!
With hindsight I suppose I should have played it differently, but then again, as it all finished up fine, I suppose I did the right thing…just one of those situations where you just don’t know how to play it because it because you feel too in the dark.
I’ve thought about this a bit: if she only had a little bit of stuff, I am sure I would have sent her packing right away – somehow it just seems it would have been a far easier decision if she only had a small amount – I know that might sound kind of daft. It just seemed more a dilemma to toss her out with a far more dangerous stash – just the fact that she had so much really threw me off. I obviously was not dealing with some chick just playing about with it: so it seemed a completely different ball game to dealing with someone just making a couple of bucks on the side…
I hope that makes sense IJ andTalbotman????

Just out of curiosity, what where the pills?
I’m honestly not 100% clear on that – it freaked me out enough to see all her gear without having to go into details! She did ramble on about yabba – but I thought that was something you smoked rather than something in pill form, so that confused me, all the same, I kind of didn't want to know…There were 3 dull colors amongst the packets, for whatever that means.

-Who knows how much truth in it, but said one particular police station in Samui is packed with drugs. One Thai dude who was busted and meant to be doing some time there comes and goes as he pleases.
She said she was busted previously, and convicted. For 20,000Bhat the police delegated her records. Again I’m not 100% clear on what arrange she had (or thought she had) with the police after that.
She said that the police were far more interested in busting falangs than Thais, and that they specifically targeted falangs. According to her, they had her approaching falangs at the Full Moon Party, and they had a team of plain-clothed police nearby should anything change hands…
Much of what she had to say was possible B.S, as I would assume it would have been in her interests to keep her mouth shut if she was talking fact. A few things she said just had me thinking “why the hell would you tell me this?”

Another strange thing was that I know my motorbike had a full tank when she borrowed it, and she returned it near to empty…to burn up that much fuel she must have lapped the whole island while she was gone!

Hope the girl knows what she is doing
Me too! She just didn’t seem the type to be into that, but just goes to show….She was really nice and innocent seeming...

Moral of the story ....... Stock the fridge with beer!!
Ha Ha - glad someone figured that out!

I WOULD HAVE KICKED HER OUT STARIGHT AWAY..........

Also IJ, It occurred to me that if she had the balls to cart so much gear about, then she most defiantly had the balls to pull a gun on me if pi-ssed off.
- that came promptly to mind when she asked me if I had a gun!!!! That really put the wind up me – what did she want to know that for????
I thought do I tell her “Yes” and kind of bluff her, or do I tell her “no”?
Well I said “no."
She said, “Well you need get one. Have many dangerous people Samui.”
I then took the view that she had a gun...

It is not a good idea to anger a Thai at the best of times, let alone with police and Mr. Bigs a bag full of drugs and questions about guns throw into the recipe!

Jeez, you got that right. Is this sort of thing going on all over Samui or were you unlucky?

Yer – that occurred to me too, but run to where? And then who comes knocking on my door looking for the stuff??? I could not have come back – and as I am working and living in Samui, it would have been the end of my job and time here...If I was staying in a hotel and on holiday I would have nicked off.

- good to read what others think they would have done, I think I’m still partly trying to justify to myself the fact that I didn’t do anything…but still I think it was the right thing...

Is this sort of thing going on all over Samui or were you unlucky?
I suppose I was unlucky…but Samui certainly has had its fair amount of shootings in the last few months, including a police man killed in Solo Bar.

Sounds like Ya Baa, usually they are in pill form and are a muddy red / orange or purple. Sound familiar? The amount she had and where she had been in her passport also points to Ya Baa.

Think i would have been making like a swastika to another hotel for the night, or least booked her into another under your name (im guessing she didnt want her name appearing on a hotel list that night), think the cost of a room would be worth getting rid of her and a believeable excuse that "she's an old friend you havent seen for 3months, who needed a room for the night so you helped her out...didnt know anything about drugs officer, i just got the room for her."
Easy to say in hindsight though.
