Not sure if its the same one Talbotman, but opposite Soi Seadragon there is another small soi and at the end on the left hand side, next to "The Islander" there is an Indian.
I'm sure its the one Livin LOS recommended.

The restaurant is the "Navrang Mahal". Some other Indians on beach road and second road. Still, Navrang is the best as far as I know and tried.

How does Navrang Mahal compare with a UK Indian restaurant?
Similar dishes?,A good choice? how is the price?, taste the same?

I ask about the taste because I have had Indian food in quite a few countries, and none have tasted anything like the food from UK Indians.

Only been once to an Indian restaurant in London. So I can't compare. I love Navrang, but I allways take the same dishes
Maybe LivinLos can compare...or test it yourself next time in Patong.

Cool

I had a good Indian meal on a previous visit. I wouldn't say it was far from Bangla, but it all depends on what far is I suppose. If you're standing at the junction of Bangla Road where Tai Pan is, turn right and head off towards Christins and after about 3/4 minutes the road bends round to the right and there is a small one there just after the massage place. There are seats outside as well an air-con area inside. I sat outside where the oven/stove/grill is and as the food was prepared it smelled wonderful

I can't for the life of me remember the name and have mentioned it in a previous thread where LivinLOS thought it was an Arabic place, but it's not.

I would say it's worth a visit as I thoroughly enjoyed the food there.

I had a good indian meal at a resto located at the end of the same soi (don't know the name) as Steak house is located (a side street to Bangla) the only "problem" is getting pass all the tailors coz thare are few there. The resto was Ok, nice and friendly staff, the menue was extensive and the food great in my opinion.

I think you mean Navrang Mahal. It is in Soi Patong Beach Resort. Other restaurants there are Danish Rundetarn, Buffalo Steack House, The Islander...

I run Hash with an Indian guy who works as a kitchen Hand, his name is Salmonella!
Seriously I have eaten Indian in Patong only a few times and at the one place. The restaraunte at the Horizon Beach resort is great but about the same price as you would pay in Aus.

Beware !! You caught my message before I changed it...the restaurant was just after Christins, not before. I amended my original post.

Yep, I've eaten at this one too Diz (but can't remember the name either) and thought it excellent...........it is just across the road from the Lamai Inn on Rat-U-Thid Rd and a couple of hundred metres before Soi Kepsap if you are walking away from Bangla.......

Excellent curries and an authentic tandoori oven with great Nan bread..........

The outdoor seats are the ones to take so you can watch te passersby...

I'll be there again over Songkran......I have one on every tour...........

Baluchi

This is the best Indian in Phuket in my experience. I've tried all the others and I would recommend this on.

It is in the Horizon Beach Hotel. Bit more expensive but worth it

For some reason I have got a feeling it might be called "Ali Baba's". Either that or that's the name of the restaurant next door and I just have the image of their sign in the back of my head

Navrang Mahal

Out of these three the only one I have tried is the Navrang Mahal and can recommend their vegetarian thali, I am not a veggie but this meal is great.
