Hi All,

The last few threads have been a bit fun about ladyboys, but a serious question:- Why do you think there are so many men who want to be women in Thailand?
I cant work it out and I have spent lots of time with them.
One ladyboy friend told me that when they were at school, about 90% of all the boys wanted to be, or were practicing ladyboys, by growing their hair and taking hormones to grow tits!
Do you think it is because they can actually look like women to foreigners?
The Thai people never get fooled by ladyboys. They know instantly.
Why so many?

Hi Sam,

At one time I thought it was money, but it costs about 60,000 for silicon tits, and around 100,000 baht for a new pussy. They go through the pain of these operations because they believe they are women. 160,000 baht is a lot of money, then hormone injections and tablets on a regular basis.
Also, there is a huge amount of gay men in Patong, so if they just wanted to be prostitutes they could have been male ones.
They ladyboys turn to prostitution as a way of financing their operations, and also it is one of the only jobs they can get as they are not accepted (only tolerated) in normal society.

I certainly wouldnt cut off my meat and two veg just for money

Nope it's not the money i think also . It's to expensive for them , like Mikegb said . It's like anywhere on the world that there are a certain amount of people who are straight , others are gay and others just feel like they are born in a wrong body . The percentage is about tesame everywhere. The difference is there that Thais don't mind what sexual preference you have , if you like girls ok , if you like men ok , if you have operation ok . In Europa many people are affraid of the reaction of neighbours , friends ,parents etc .. in America it's even worse . Thais respect eachother the way you are not of what sexual pref you have , it's cultural .

I could be completely wrong on this one so bear with me.

I remember the 1st time i booked up for los , I went to a travel agent because like many didn't know the things i know now regarding how to get cheaps flights/hotels by myself ..etc

The travel agent was a family business , both the husband & wife were very nice people so as a result of that i was able to ask many many questions about los as they had told me they themselves were in love with the place.

One day i was having coffe with the wife in their lounge while waiting for a fax confirmation of the booking came through.

The subject turned to ladyboys & she and her husband who came in half way through the converstaion were advising me on how to spot them.

The husband who has been going to thailand for many years on business proceeded to tell me that there was a very large proportion of lb's in los and that it was generally accepted.

My curious mind then asked them why there was so many, the answer was that thai men are famous for having small penises , this is not to say that ALL have small twinkies but many do.

They explained to me that ladyboys they knew personally would tell them they had a small penis before they had the chop & that they felt they could not satisfy women in the way other men can (especially farang)

It seems that some feel they may as well become a woman due to the failngs downstairs.

Some lb's on the other hand have pretty large penis sizes that would measure up against anywhere in the world so it is difficult to say wether there is any truth is this.

But i have spoken to thai girls who have said the same thing which is a bit of a coincidence considering i never said a word when questioning them about lb's that size is involved

I think it is a mixture of many things , the feeling of being trapped in the wrong body , the money due to the fact that thousands of farangs monger in thailand solely for the purpose of ''women'' and paying huge sums of money for the pleasure
And also the point that thai society is so accepting of others that maybe some get tempted to give it a try & live life as a sexy woman simply because they can.

Perhaps some just like the company of men and the feel of silk panties on their crutch ...who knows ?

One thing i have noticed , there are many effeminate young boys in thailand , When i stayed in a small village in Issan , my tilac of the time pointed out a young boy to me in the village.

She said to me ''you know Chlis , him ladyman''
This boy was only about 8 or 9 years old & i was confused as to how she could know his sexuality at such a tender age.

But i noticed he was different to the other boys , walked exactly like the ladyboys on Soi katoey, had little pointy ears like a pixie & a very feminine face.

She also told me he would only play with other girls and little dollys & would never join in the the boys games like football.

It just seems that Thailand breeds these wonderful creatures.

What I noticed is that the LB's are really not faking!

Honestely they get on my nerves! I think you just see so manny because it is tollerated in Thailand. also i don't know any country in the world, where they have so much sucess! I think if you are in to it, you don't have to hide, like in many countries, it's the way you can catch money.

Money is a way to live for them, not the purpose, because believe me they are men wanting to be women!!!

I think because it is more acceptable in Thailand, men who feel like a lady can do it freely here while it should be big problems in other countries. I guess the percentage is same everywhere but since Thailand is more open minded regarding this they can do it more open.

I really dont think it is anything to do with the size of their ****. There are some I have been with where I have had to show them the red card

I think some use it as a way of getting attention. I know there are lots and lots of ladyboys in Thailand, but you get large concentrations of them in the tourist areas because they can live in a group where they are accepted, and they can make some money from it. I dont think money is the main motivator for being a ladyboy.

If you watch thai tv you will regularly see ladyboys on the comedy shows. Maybe because it is so open and 'in your face' that it makes people curious and they convinve themselves they are women.

Out of 10 ladyboys, I would guess that 6 have womens hormones as well as mens. I think 3 are trying it out, and 1 is making money and likes dicks.

From the 6 that have a mix of hormones, I would say only 2 are 'real' ladyboys. TOTAL feminine ways and feelings.

I honestly think Thailand is very racist and has a huge class system. The thing is that they dont give public displays of feelings or emotions, so whilst they are tolerated on the outside, behind closed doors people dont like them. If you talk to the bar girls, a lot of them hate the ladyboys. A lot of thais hate the japanese and chinese, and we know they dont like us, but they tolerate us because of the money we generate.

Anyway, they certainly fascinate me AND the sex is great
