Im so sorry. This realy sucks bigtimes. I realy hope everything turns out fine in the end mate!
I just hope there will be no jailtime for any of them, i believe i read the max penalty/fine was 6 months, 10.000Bath or both? I might be wrong and i realy hope i am regarding the jailtime.
Once again, i hope everything turns out fine and i wish you the best.

Thats the problem as a farang doing anything in Thailand, you never ever know where you really stand. Might turn out to be a costly night. Hope all sorts itself out.

I thought i read it on the board. This was posted in the news section.
"The maximum penalty for owners or managers of outlets selling or distributing alcohol during an election – or even supplying it free – is six months in jail or a 10,000-baht fine, or both."

It's just the MIB getting some cash out of farang business. Doubt very much if the girl will spend anytime behind bars (other than those selling booze ).
Tough luck Crusty. Hope all goes well in court tomorrow. Hopefully IJ and co. will have a big p1ssup at your bar and you'll get the 10k baht back in no time.

New staff
What was realy sad was that the girl who went with the police only had sat her job interview and was going to start tomorrow. But when the police waltzed in she volunteered to represent us in court.
It has to be one of the most impressive job interview techniques ever.
She came back and told me that she is number 7 in the queue of court appearances along with the other farrang bars
Thanks for the good wishes.

Well done for the girl (and she has to get the job now) but its standard procedure for Bar staff isnt it..
I am guessing that this counts as one of your 3 strikes and your out ?? I know a few places on 2 now and its a real headache.. Have to really take care then..

I was at Big C yesterday and they had signs over the alcohol section saying that alcohol could be sold after 6.00 pm. This sucks! I was also at another bar last night and the owner phoned the police and was told after 9.00 pm was ok. From 7-9 we sat there and drank beer out of plastic cups; mind you this wasn't in Bangla, but in Na Nai Rd.
Good luck in court btw.

She got the job!
She spent the day in Phuket court along with representatives of over 20 other farrang owned establishments.
In the end it was a 2000 Baht fine but we now have our card marked. We will have to be more careful in future.

just a pretense
Curstasian, I know that does not help you specifically, but I would guess that they would have dragged a number of bars in under any pretense that comes handy; it was very bad luck that this time it was you.
It is very sad that business in Thaikand always has to come with those problems attached, it increases the risk significantly and makes the finding of investors very difficult.
But one hopes that even though your card is marked, it is also marked under Karma and you should have collected a few good points for your next life's business ventures.

I talked to Ead yesterday and asked if she saw any police men, she didnt, so they did not check the bars in Soi Eric I guess.
However, she started to sell alcohol at 23:45 and only soft drinks before that.
Sorry for the bad luck Crustasian!
