have been told to bring sterling and change it to thai bhat at bangkok airport as this has the best exchange rates can anybody confirm this as we normally change our money prior to travel in the uk

Yes..you would be foolish to change your money in the uk

I just look on the Bangkok Bank website and the rates are not looking good right now, I certainly hope they pick up for may ?

But I also looked at Travelex (UK) and the rates were lower.

Currently 65/66 baht to the pound out in thailand, but still as always, better than what you get here in the UK. Keep checking that site prior to departure.

Can some of the lads currently in los confirm what rates you are getting at the moment with the usual banks please ?

Just checked a few others, Siam Commercial looks the best. 67 baht to the pound.

If you have ATM cards use them at the airport. I think there are some holes in the wall at BKK???? If not, just change what you need until you get to your destination, as IIRC the rate at the airport booths is slightly less than usual banks etc.

which means thet on a badget of 2000 sterling you save 100 of it which means 1000 thai baht,which means 1 night stand with a thai girl 4 free.

Only thing I would add is that while you should wait until getting to Thailand the airport is often not the best place.. Use an exchange booth in town..
