Dental clinics & services

I would like to know more about other peoples experience of dental services in Phuket.

2003: I did a dentist check-up and they found I had 5 teeths that needed drilling and filling. I paid 600 baht for the check/cleaning and then 600 baht for each teeth. It was done in two returning visits.
The clinic on Sai Nam Yen road.

2006: Went for a cleaning routine at the same clinic above, and also because I felt pain in one of the teeth but never mentioned it to them. 1200 baht.

2006: As I have pain, I decided to visit the new clinic on Sawatdirak Road (All4Diving), Prom Jai. It is a big nice dental clinic which looks modern and professional. They also have another clinic on the bypass road on the way to airport.

One of the teeths I repaired in 2003 gave me problem, althought it was filled the hole was still growing beneth the filling and caused pain. She drilled and put medicament or something and told me I need root canal treatment next time. Took maybe 1-1.5 hour. This visit: 1700 baht including x-rays.

2nd visit, root canal treatment. Took about 2 hours.: 12,000 baht.

3rd visit: Preparing for a crown and gave me a temporary plastic crown. 20,000 baht including the new crown. Maybe 1-1.5 hour.

I will be back on Tuesday for crown insertion, but isnt 33,700 baht in total very expensive??

Had a quote from local dentist 2 years back in Australia this is. A root canal starts at $1,000AUD and a crown starts at $1,500. Getting both on the one tooth starts at $2,000. I needed 2 teeth done. Needless to say I haven't been back.

if you compare it to the prices in europe i think it's cheap. i dont know of the exact prices but somebody i work with had to get something similar like you did and it cost 12000 swiss francs, that's about 357000 baht. it was for 8 or 9 teeth i believe...

i once had a check up at bangkok phuket hospital so no major tooth-problems for me so far...hope it will stay that way

Do you remember how much you paid for the check up at Bangkok Phuket Hospital?

As you can see in my post above, the Sai Nam Yen clinic has doubled its rate in just 3 years. (And well, Thais get a different price for sure)

We have cheap places here too, I think the prices wary a lot between different clinics/hospitals.

Thats why it would be good if people could post their experiences here and compare prices/service.

I know for sure Patong Hospital offer very cheap service, but I dont know about the quality and avoid it for the time being.

Hmm im not 100% sure but i believe the german guy i was telling about earlier who got porcelein veneers and some various fixes paid 60k Baht at Patong Hospital (Im pretty sure it was) His teeth's was shining. a tad too bright tho for a 45 year old guy, looked funny in a way. But he was very satisfied from what i could tell, considering his incredibly poor and drunken English.

Nicke....you know l had some work done at Promjai.....yes they are probably expensive in Thai terms, but their overall professionalism, up to date technology and cleaniness made me feel at ease about the major work l required.

I did get a quote down at Patong Hospital.....and their is no way l would use them....l found the clinic to be very dirty and l could not get out of there quick enough.

Phuket Dentists

Nicke

I went to this place 2 years ago and can recommend them but they are expensive although their equipment is state of the art.

http://www.phuketcosmeticdentalclinic.com/

I am booked to go in June for a check up and a clean, which is about 1,500 baht.

It is quite expensive so I am thinking about going here. They will charge me about 1,000 baht.

http://www.phukethospital.com/servic...pricelist.html

I phoned my dentist in the Uk who I have been going to for over 20 years last week. I have not been for 12 months so they de-listed me as a patient. 20 years and not even a reminder. I now have no dentist and they won't even give me a copy of my records....England sucks, good old Tony Blair

Regards

Drew

I have been using the same dentist in the UK for the last 29 years, last month I discover he has b*gg*red off having sold the whole shebang to a 'foreign person' who is not taking on NHS patients. The end result is that for £12.75 (1100bt) per month, you get a check, clean and polish, plus X-ray if necessary. Any further treatment starts at £75 per filling.
I have a plte with 5 false teeth that don't fit and am hoping to get this sorted in Patong when I return for my annual pilgrimage. Love to you all!!

My wife used the Patong dental clinic at the hospital in Sainamyen Rd earlier this month when she had a bad toothache. From check in at reception to being seen took around 1hr.
She found them very professional, and an x-ray cost 200baht, the consultation fee 200baht and antibiotics cost 15baht. They diagnosed a cracked filling that needed a crown, but a waiting list meant it has to be done here in the UK.

Phuket Cosmetic Dental Clinic is top notch. Certainly not the cheapest but the facility is spotlessly clean with the latest equipment and procedures available. My last visit in October included 8 appointments within 14 days due to my limited time available for holiday. This included consultation with x-rays, 4 root canals, 4 porcelain crowns and new dentures all for 70,000 Baht. I am very pleased and have received many compliments from the ladies about my nice smile. I highly recomend.

Sounds like a good deal, look like you paid about half my price per tooth.

I still have to say I am very happy with the serivce and professonalism of Prom Jai, just asking around to compare with other clinics. Prom jai is state of the art and probably upper end of the market.

It is ironic Nicke started this thread. I actually will be returning on May 8th for a check up and a cleaning at the PCDC. I know this will be a much more enjoyable 2 week holiday with only one visit necessary.

It is amazing when you are getting close to having a holiday in Patong Beach that you feel like you have had a drink from the "Fountain of Youth." The aches and pains seem to go away suddenly and things that usually annoy you very much just are not so important anymore! Sorry for straying off topic but everytime I am close to visiting again this 50 something year old starts to feel much younger again!!!!!!!

I was there (BPH) about 2 weeks ago for dental cleaning and a quick check up. Took about 20 mins in the seat with a total cost of 700.-

Jeeeeeeeez, I had root canal done in the dental clinic in Patong Hospital a few months ago....2 visits...total cost 1500 baht.

Extraction 500 baht around the same time too....and I've also had a plate made with 2 teeth on it, cost 1500 baht.

Work is just the same as you get in the private dentists and if you're lucky you'll get the lovely lady dentist POM singing to you while she's hacking away inside your gob!

I found two Dental clinics within 5 minutes walk of Patong Villa!

I was too frightened to go in as all I could hear was drilling so sacked it! I only wanted a clean and polish with a happy ending! So went for a ST and a Tiger instead.

I would rather walk around Sadr City in my Union Jack thong carrying a catapult and flicking the bird to the local Shufti Militia than go in there.

Good pictures though!

I was in Patong for a couple of weeks in February and went to the www.phuketdentalclinic.com which is nearly opposite Christins massage. It was spotless, very professional. I had my teeth, cleaned, polished, bleached and whitened and it was 6500B, less than £100. Would have cost £850 back in the UK. They do all sorts of work so you could try them! Regards, joolz.
