Bangkok Layover, What to Do?

I will arrive in Bangkok around midnight and have about 7 hours to wait until my flight to Phuket. I will be travelling with 2 pieces of luggage. I have waited it out at the airport in the past and have always felt there has to be something better. I have also grabbed a hotel room close to the airport, but by the time I get the taxi and get checked in I can only rest for a couple of hours before i have to get back to the airport.

My question is, what do other experienced BM's suggest as a way of passing the time in Bangkok when you have a 6 to 12 hour layover in Bangkok?

Put yer bags in storage and hit up Nana for a ST exp. plenty of ST hotels around there. Then head back to the airport witha smile on yer face. You can try eden but its a bit pricey. But loads of fun. ST hotel right next door.

It's the Amari Airport hotel. They do have massage center that's open till 2 am. I've never been to the Amari at the airport, but I think you will be able to get full service at their massage center, might not be cheap though. From this site I've read the following, might help.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...t-Bangkok.html

.. the Amari Airport Hotel will always hold a very fond place in this single, male, business traveller's heart. If you enjoy, "massages," it is possible to go to the "After Flight Centre" on the fifth (Executive) floor and choose the, "masseuse," you would like to have go back to your room with you ... ... have done this routine a few times, and it has always been ... special ... ; ) ...

Hey thanks, I wish I had known about that the times I've had a layover in BKK airport on the way to Hong Kong and China... And I've even been in there, but didn't get anything but a regular foot massage.

Thanks for all the great suggestions from everyone.

I think I will try Nana this trip to ease the layover time. I hope I don't miss my flight to Phuket though.

A couple more questions. Where do I go to find storage for my bags at the airport? How long should I figure the taxi ride back to the airport will take?

Im sure they have some kind of storage at the airport. Try looking through the net or askingsome of the employees there. Maybe ask you airline if you can store it with them. Another thing you can do is if you know yer going ST get a ST room and put it in there. I would figure about an hour to get back on the toll way, maybe a bit more just to be sure. I think you have to check in by a certain time beofre the flight, right? Have fun at nana. I love Rainbow a go go on the bottem level, many lookers there.

It is only a half hour drive from Nana to the airport. Even at rush hour, I 've made it in 30 minutes on the tollway. In the middle of the night or very early morn it should be even a little quicker, I would think. Especially if you catch the taxi right out side the Nana Hotel across from Nana Entertainment Plaza. It takes a little longer if you catch the taxi on Sukhumvit, because you will be headed in the wrong direction.

About baggage storage. I have read here a thread once where the guy said he stored his bags in a locker there, but I have never done it, so I can't give you the details.

Left luggage

There is a little window where you can leave your bags just before the main INTERNAL flight check-in section (upstairs) opposite the shop that sells some electrical stuff. NB read the rules such as not leaving MP3 players and the like inside your bags (maybe they will then go walk about if you do?). I agree - do Nana ST.

nana st

The barber shop is inside the international terminal and you won't be able to access that without a flight ticket if you leave the international terminal. I have some friends who can attest to the Barber giving you a "good haircut"

I think you should check the bags in left lugguge in the domestic terminal upstairs, get a taxit to nana plaza and go have fun at a st hotel I suggest Fortuna on soi 5 near Gullivers. You might bump into Alfie outside of Nana plaza (he's the one chatting to the really tall "girl")

Cheers!
