Some help needed planning next trip!
Weird. 28 ° here. We will be having a nice Laab Kai with a terrific bottle of wine at miday, sorry to say, by the pool.
And what am I doing all morning? Planning my next trip! I have for the first time since I am back a bit of Los blues.
So I al searching photo-sites, forums, to plan my next trip!
It will be a bit diferent then last year, not that much. I will leave proberly begining of December, and head for phuket. I want to find a new place there, preference in Karon, or Kata. The one I had, the Thai neighbours were up to early, and making a lot of noice, in the kitchen, next to my bedroom.
At least 2 weeks-maybe 3 with finding some nice girls, and some relaxation. You know I like to come to MT bar, but also to be a bit on my own with a nice girl.
After this time, I put my married guy hat on again and the spouse is coming. No children. So we are planning to stay porberely some days on Phuket, but then go somewhere else.
What is sure, is that we are heading for Mynamar, to do some seightseing that week. Then we want to spend in a nice romantic hotel, not low class but not too expensive somewhere before going back. It is a bit stupid to go back to Phuket after Mynamar. But in Bkk area, I see nothing, convenient,as it is still a long way to the airport when we go back, form either Pattaya, another island and Hua Hin. Anybody some ideas?
I was also thinking about Koh Lanta. Not before we go back, maybe when I am alone, or at the begining of my spouse stay. I miss a bit that "tropical island" feeling in Phuket, as it has become so crowded. I want some days, at a nice beach, some local restaurants and bars on it, with a bit of sightseeing. I hope Lanta is not yet overpopulated and ruined by traffic and buildings yet!
So if some pople, who have ideas, about islands, stays, where to go toe eat/drink, how to organise my trip to Mynamar, without being in a bus of tourist, everything is welcome!
You can PM me to and if you need to send pictures file, I will give you my mail.
Like I said, I am due to several reasons not much on this board, but like I said, I will never be "completely gone", or then I will be sleeping in my coffin!
Thanks

I went there 10 years ago, it rained, it poured for several days and the bungalow was terrible dirty, we felt fithy to sleep there.
But...it was September, and this is no way to have an opinion about this island.
Maybe not a bad idea I have been thinking about it, only it is a long way to go back to the airport, to go back home.

its funny, the weather changes the whole thing for me(TBH i dont mind either way)but when i was back in LOS in march/april this year i got the old feeing back from my first trips(same march/april time)never felt the heat like that, the water was a lot calmer, clearer on a whole the beaches were 10 times better, compared to low season sept, rough,v rough at times.....
Samet was beutiful when i went there in april, and i would go back, but im sure the feeling would change if i was back there and the beaches werent up to much.
the place we stayed in was not that nice either(fan room ,fully booked everywere on the bay, school holidays)but all the AC rooms at the resort looked very nice,i would defintely hunt around next time.
great place to chill.

Tintin
another nice place to go to are Koh Chang.
there are some nice beaches and hotels also.
You could go by air to Trat and take a mini van to the island.
It is really nice there, very relaxed.

If you let me know what you want to see/do in Myanmar i can prob give you some help.
From what I remember you can either fly Bankok-Rangoon/Yangon or Chiang Mai - Mandalay as your international flight (or from SIN of course).

Thanks I am still trying to figure things out. Some people on another forum, haved tried to convince me NOT to go to Mynamar, as you have to go around with Goverment people, who are not only watching you, but also the people you are having contact with.
That doesn't mean, I will not, just try to figure out, what to do. Anghkor, Vietnam, are still obtions. There is still so much to see, but I want it easy-going.
Did not think about Koh Chang. How is it compared to Koh Lanta? I don't want to make the trip too tyring going back to Europe. But if there is an airport near Koh Chang, could be interesting.

It's really not like that at all. Within the places foreigners are allowed to go you can pretty much do what you want.
Certain parts of the county are off limits to foreigners but other than that you wouldn't really notice that there is a very oppressive government in power.
