Upon visiting Mai Khao beach recently i was stunned to see a flourishing nudist colony. Is this socially acceptable in LOS? The group mainly consisted of europeans but there were some locals as well. It is a relatively quiet beach by Phuket standards and they were a long way from any other bathers. I was on a day trip from The Pearl Village Resort and staff told me they have days there about once a month. Does anyone know about this?

It's definitely not socially acceptable here but as long as nobody reports it to the MIB they'll be ok.

A few months ago I was at far end of Surin Beach with a TG eating at a restaurant. An Aussie wearing a towel came over and asked if I would mind filming him and his lady using his video camera on their sunbeds having their holiday. When we got to her she was absolutely stunning with black curly hair down to her waist and.......b*llock naked...(after he told me she was Chinese)....perfectly smooth down below too

He sat alongside her, whipped his towel away and I filmed them canoodling and a bit of dialogue into the camera along the lines of "Hi, this is Greg and ChewLi in Phuket....."

I think when they got to watch the video they mave have noticed a bit of camera shake! The restaurant owner told me they'd been coming there everyday sitting naked all day and he'd even seen them having s#x on the rocks.

Mai Khao is well known amongst pure practising Nudists. Naturally you wouldn't see them at Patong or Kata. As the informed farang knows Phuket caters for everyone. The group relies upon discretion for its existence. And what an existence it is, walking around in broad daylight with a raging hard on is a truly liberating experience.

I thought walking around with a raging hard on was against the kind of form of 'pure practacing nudists'.. Non sexual nudity and all that..

There are few "Pure Practising Nudists" in Phuket. But some will tell you otherwise to ease their conscience. And on most occasions the hard on is in the water or in the foliage i must admit.

It's true, i saw them recently. Apparently as long as they dont stay down the airport end of the beach no one bothers them. Maybe they think it will distract the pilots.

Very suprised this is tolerated!

In France, we got a lot of official nude beaches and a few non-unofficial ones!

A lot of them are "family orientated beaches", espescially The one's in the South-west. (I am living in the south-east). I usualy go to the smaller hidden one's, a bit more difficult to get to. On the bigger, it's a bit like a getto, I am less found of that.

Although practicing this here, I would not do that in Los, because it is not accepted among the locals, and honestly, I would not like to end up in jail.

As i have my nude beach in Germany, i would be glad if somebody could give me some hint about which part of the beach the nudist colony is spending its time.

I think this is the reason no one will tell you on an open forum. It is frowned upon by locals and would be punishable if publicised. Which is why they keep it private and on random days.

And from the other poster, walking around with a raging hard on in a nudist group is seen as very bad form. (or so Denpar told me)

As for the nudist colony, as Dodger says, I could just stand in the corner and give everyone somewhere to hang thier towels! I can handle a 200 Baht fine for a day out at the beach.........I may have to pay a bit more, as they don't call me 'Donkey Kong' round these parts for nothing!

Can't say I've ever been to one of these, but have seen topless women at various places on Karon and Patong beaches, often with their husband/boyfriend in a skimpy speedo type bathing suit.

I know exactly why the Thai's frown on this type of behaviour. It might be one thing if these were Sports Illustrated swimsuit models, but unfortunately they are often older overweight women with sagging breasts and big hairy beergut guys - and I don't really care to see that at all. Its probably good if they have a nudist colony for them though, so that way the rest of us don't have to see them.

Always thought it was a Med euro mentality to get all the kit off on the beach. Southern French beaches more undressed than dressed. Topless seems to create zero reaction these days but a guy in a thong will always get the same reaction from Thais & non Thais - funny, ha ha, stop it!
