Phuket

Hi -slightly dull, but am coming to phuket next Sunday for a few days and notice the weather sites i've checked all show thunderstorms recently. Does this mean it's raining heavily most of the day, or brief tropical monsoon type downpours interspersed with sunshine? I need some sunshine...is it likely to continue into next week anyone know?

Sorry to say but lately we have had LOTS of rain.. Thats not a problem if your exploring or bar hoppping and theres lots of fun to be had but its not beach type fun.. Lotsof fairly all day rain.

My mother came over for 3 - 4 weeks then went to Bali for 3 weeks and is having one more week here now.. She only had a few good weather days in the whole 3 - 4 weeks last time round and 1 so far in the last 5 days !! I dont mind the rainy season, its cooler, theres some clean air, but thats from someone who has no deadline on doing things.. Looking through the eyes of my mother as a tourist its been a shame.. Only a couple of days suitable for riding about or heading the beach sad to say.

Hopefully it will clear before you come but my Mums time is up tomorrow.

Even with the rain you will have a laugh.... I found it nice when it rained... Cooled down a little.... Still daytime stuff to do in the rain

For Patong and bar hopping its not a big deal IMHO.. Its only the beach side which gets crimped..

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and all but no point sugar coating..

Just eased up after 4 or so hours of really tipping it down.. Pretty much since that earlier post..

My mums last day.. No chance of leaving the house so far (she isnt interested in a ST tho IJ.. thanks for offering tho)..

when does it not rain in phuket i was there for 1 week in november and it rained all the time !

i am not a beach man anyway i prefer lying around the swim pool

Well some people thought I was complaining when I had nothing then rain end of November!

Sure it is always fun, even with rain, but when you drive a motorbike, and like sun and beach like I do, it was NOT always a ball. But when you book this period at least you KNOW you can expect some rain!!!

It's true, i knew what we were in for, but am preggers so bar hopping is out unfortunately! Is it worth seeing the gibbon sactuary? I'd also like to see the waterfall, or some other nature/wildlife (other than Patong folks!)..is there much trecking involved?
