Forum behavoir gone funny ???

This may be a DNS issue.. TOT's ADSL seemed to have corrupted DNS tables for 36 hours lately.. Some sites simply wopuldnt ping yesterday but others were fine..

Anyway when I browse the forum I use 'new posts' and when the new threads are listed theres a little blue box which takes me to the first unread post in the thread at the very left.

Now I have lists of threads I havent seen but only some (the most recent 50% or so) contain a next unread post link / blue square !! Kind of odd as if a thread is a new thread yet not to have the forum think theres unread posts inside is not making any sense..

Obviously its not a big issue only are others seeing this ?? Is it a forum change or glitch ??

Your not alone there S - I've been experiencing the same thing, also Yahoo was down accross whole of Asia Thursday (22/06/06) (Japan, Phils, Thailand at any rate).

Hope just a minor glitch and nothing more serious.

Nope, normal viewing here in Oz. Sure sounds like you guys locally are being screwed down even further with access. Maybe a technical fault, or maybe not.

Was it all of Asia ??

I know we lost Yahoo here in the house as my housemate couldnt get his email.. But he went down to the net cafe and said all was fine there..

Pacific (whose customer service is really good.. Even call you back to verify problems are fixed etc) told me it was a TOT only deal..

Though right now with the rain my net is up and down like a wh0res drawers... 'Always on' my ass !!

My mate in Toyko - very tech able said they were down and both here and Phils also had no Yahoo access from 6am - around lunch time Thurs.

Get fed up with all this meddling around - over the last 3 years the internet is become less reliable rather then go the other way - at least that seems the case in Thailand.

It was a serious TOT problem the last few days, no Hotmail, no Yahoo, the forum intermittent - Standard TOT snafu, they fcuk with their DNS and filters up in Bangers without thought for their customers.

My best guess diagnosis with nothing other than what went wrong was a corrupted DNS table was propogated and they then did not or could not reload it accross thier name servers..

Still no hotmail here !!

Also when it rains my ADSL line is touch and go but lots of the time I am getting a 1024 ADSL connect but no DNS ping.. Really think they screwed the pooch but it was the weekend and its was raining so lets not expect much TIT..

I have to admit, that was all a bit over my head. But I'm glad you've raised it because trying to view this forum from the Middle East has been s-l-o-o-o--o-o-w the last week or so, whereas other Thai-based websites have been as quick as usual.

Any of you techies got any idea why? Please explain it so that non-techie thickos like me might vaguely understand it! Thanks.
