Bangkok to Patong and golf
HI all,
I’m travelling to Thailand in November. Last year I stayed in and around Patong. This year I’m coming over with a friend. The plan is to stay a few days in Bangkok and then move south towards Hau Hin and then to Patong. We would like to play a few rounds of golf along the way…could anyone suggest any descent courses, (or a better plan) hotels (GF). Does this plan sound feasible?? Rent a car or train?
Any help would be gratefully received
Cheers, Ferris

I think the order of good courses getting higher end is
Loch Palm
Country Club
Blue Canyon
Mission Hills
I dont do golf so I could be well out but thats how I hear it from mates who do 'ruin a good walk'..

You can always join us, we play every thursday 3.00 pm at Phuket Country Club, the 9 hole course. (On the left side if you coming from Patong, the 18 hole course is on the right side)

Thanks
Thanks for the invite Nicke....might just take you up on that. The link was also useful, thought I'd looked at every Thai golf site....must have missed that one...thanks Landofsmiles. Must admit it's a lot pricer than I expected...should I haggle or is this going rate...I think they were quoting about 4500B at Blue Canyon.
Thanks Again....next time i see I will have my wood in my hand

I dont know about golfing in Bangkok but Mejestic suites is a popular choice, also Nana hotel. Guestfriendly hotels.
Blue Canyon is nice but not worth the money IMHO, as the cheaper courses is good enough. For me its basically Phuket Country Club or Loch Palm, as they are close to Patong and more value for the money.

Hi Nicke
New to the forum but have been doing a lot of reading. Read your last post about playing on Thursdays so followed up by checking out the Mai Thai Golf Challange thread. Would love to play but don't want to let down my country. Not arriving until late Nov. so have time to practice.

You are welcome, we play for fun and have a good day out, the score is not important. The guys I play with (Dodger and Duncan, low handicappers) is a lot better than me but we have fun anyway, I just compete with myself when I play with them but I do beat them on some holes.
As people join us we can be from 4-10 people and the guest players may be bad or good, we have all kind of players visiting. Some guest visitors even peg on each shot on fairway... lol. (Hello Bono!)

Hi Nicke
sounds like a good time can't wait. Judging from the pics looks like a lot of water so will pack some floating balls ( going to get beat up for this one). Packing dive gear so will need to rent clubs.

HI Nicke,
Just had a look at the Magestic Hotel website...spot on. Thanks. As for the Golf....think we'll take the clubs...have a chat with a few BM...and just take it as it comes.
Thanks again

Hi Nicke,
I am in Patong early September (Love golf) Unfortunatley my two freinds don't. It would be great to join up for a game instead of having a round on my own. Is it possible to get a berth?
