Question First Visit

Hi all ...my first visit both to the posts and next April to Phuket
Missus and 2 girls coming with me (13 and 16) What should I expect!
Usually go to Dubai so this will be a big change.Staying at Peter Pan, are the beaches within walking distance and how about family friendly bars?
Any info appreciated.

Welcome to the board Dawsey.

I don't know where Peter Pan is located but most bar are family friendly. The ladies like to take care of everybody, e.g. play game and chat with the girls/kids.

Give it a try.

What other things do you plan to do on your vacation here?

Thumbs up Patong for families

Hi Dawsey,

One thing I can say about Phuket/Patong is that there is a very high proportion of families that go there. Good hotels, good beaches and lots of shops ensure that the kids shouldnt be bored.

As you are a full blooded male, then I suggest you pay for a Thai massage for the family, and tell them you are going to hire a jeep whilst they get massaged for 2 hours.

Go straight to the beach front, hire a jeep, and then go straight to a different massage parlour and get blown off for the next hour.

Simply return to the original massage parlour with a jeep and tell the wife you have been haggling for prices.

p.s. If your todger starts to drip after 2 days, then go to ANY pharmacy and get 4 days of 500mg penicillin. That usually shifts any trouble.

Have fun!!!!!!!!!

The hotel is about 15 minute walk to the beach in a straight line. All the bars and pubs in phuket are family friendly you could bring your dog, cat the mother inlaw and the kids no problem. Here is the hotel and location.

Hi Fellow First Timer

Hello,
I'm also a first timer but single male traveler . Let me suggest that you inquire lots. Seems there are many good people here with much to say but they appear on different occasions providing lots of diverse information.
I do enjoy the humorists, especially the guy with the barking dog avitar, but along with that you get some good info. Just think for a moment as to the suitability of this content for your kids. However, anybody that says teenage children are more than welcome in an environment where working girls is the mode should consider the issue of family development.
I will, most certainly, make a note to offer my reflections of the enviro based one the overview of one who put some youngsters into the professional world.

How is it you a hotel so far in advance and how did you make the selection!

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the info.I think its very much the case of go to a new country and see for yourself. The far east is a new culture for me and as you say a I have got some humourous info that doesnt rally address the original question. You asked why I booked so far ahead and how I chose Peter Pan. Well the flights to Phuket from the UK are going fast next Apr so I like to book far ahead. As for the hotel I must have looked at 200 different hotels on the web and just plumped for Peter Pan.Maybe not a good choice given its distance from the beaches but I want a fairly quiet spot to sleep and just went for it. Cheers for the info anyway

Hello Nicke,

Thanks for your welcome and reply. I would like to do the usual tourist things like a few days at different beaches (recommend any?) also a boat trip ,some jetski ing and snorkelling.I suppose to keep the wife and children happy there will have to be shopping but in the evenings.
Do you find the weather pretty oppressive during April.I'm used to 45C+ and high humidity from Dubai but its uncomfortable.
