Will the radiation from the x-ray machine at the airport destroy film inside cameras? Pics are important, after all

Very hard to get a straight answer on that one.

Similar concerns with magnetic media. Digital camera cards, HDD etc.

Always try to keep the goods away from the hand held metal detectors and better still if you can, ask for a visual inspection rather than an
x-ray.

The strength of x-ray machines varies from country to country, so there are no guarantees. Generally it shouldn't be a problem. Have never had a problem myself, but always better to be safe and process the film. Very cheap in Thailand.

You can buy special bags at the photoshops that avoid this situation . Make sure you get some before travelling to Thailand .
I have also heard that the x-ray machines int he USA are some of the harshest so the problem is everywhere.
