I must agree with Andy, had a TG as a GF, she could speak some english, but still very minimal. It seemed like my thai was getting better while her english stayed the same... Maybe its me... But i do agree, its REALLY frustrating when they have no idea what you're saying and they reply "yes yes" I've said so many times if you don't understand, tell me and i wil try to explain in a different way... But that never seems to work... Always yes yes yes and then things go wrong.... Sorry i seem to be taking out some work frustrations as well... But Andy i know how you feel....

You need to speak "baby english" to them if you want them to understand anything , same english they speak .. add a few words in thai here and there is a plus!

If i speak same english ive´learned at school they dont understand shit so i can imagine if you guys who have english as your mother language keeps talking like you do at home there is a big problem for most Thai´s to understand you as most of them dont have any education when it comes to english!

They just learnt from tourists from all around the world or a 50bath book

I don't blame Tg's for not understand the english some of the guys from so called english-speaking countries speak. O boy, have you heard all the different accents people just from England have?

How much do you think a girl from Issan understands if a Cockney speaker started a long conversation with her?

Then I think we other guys from not speaking-english countries have a better chance to be understood. I know that I feel better speaking english to someone on my own level than to a person that can hear everything I say wrong.

I love you big!

Well , i gues your right there Mr.Eeef

After a few days in LOS you understand your old school english is on a much higher level then the people your talking to .. Awh , im well educated now 555 (I´ll call my mum and make her happy)

Bad thing is that even we who not have english as a mother language have funny accents , i can easily hear if the guy is from Sweden even if he speaks just english in LOS , gue´s it the same with people from all over europe !?

Improve your english!

This advertising movie, Sinking Ship, was produced for Berlitz by a small norwegian bureau.
Maybe you have seen it already on tv?

I hope the link works.

Hi Frode, yep, this is my most favourite one, just love it. I played it a couple of times before I had to present in front of an english crowd...although my accent is not that bad, but it cheers them up.
At one occasion they just couldn't stop giggling for the rest of the day and asked me to play it again and again
