Apple Ipod

Dear All

Please advise how much an Apple Ipod would cost in Thailand at the moment.
I am looking at getting one here but wonder how much I could save in LOS.
I am looking at an Apple Ipod photo with about 20gb or roughly the same thing.
Also how easy/hard is it to download music when in LOS?

So you are looking into the older generation iPod? I am sure you can get it more at a discount in your area than in LOS. Even the ipod video 30 gb here in the states are going for under $250 w/ coupons and sales. Good luck.

Last time I checked it was 12-20,000 baht for the models available. 60GB was 20k.

I don't know about the ipod but accesories for my 60gb are far cheaper in los than the UK. I bought a case at Ocean on Beach Rd. for 300 bt. £4.00. The same one in UK.is £22.00.
Cost for a 60 gb Ipod in UK. is £300.00 about 20,000 bt.

Check out "IRIVER" hard disk mp3 players... They don't require any additional software. Just plug it into your PC/MAC and its picked up as an external drive. Copy anything (mp3,jpg etc) directly on (windows folder view.)

A little bit more expensive than Ipods... But better IMO... i have a h340, got it in the states 2 years ago, great player....

Argos in England is offering the Creative Zen 20GB Photo for £109 reduced from £210.

All out of stock right now but I cannot see a better deal than this about at the moment. Does anyone have any feedback on these?

I've got a Creative Zen Micro. A bit fiddly to use and software not very intuitive but great sound, especially through my own headphones, though not huge volume. Unfortunately mine keeps locking up on start-up under battery power(OK with mains adaptor) and can't turn off unless you take the battery out which leads to more problems so it will have to go back.
So not sure whether to recommend or not. Big plus point is the sound quality.

I bought a 60GB 5th generation iPod at Pantip Plaza in Bangkok for 15,000 baht in mid-May. Many dealers selling both the 30GB and 60GB models so plenty of competition. Walk around, ask prices, and then haggle.

I have a dial-up connection and still manage to download A LOT of music from iTunes and also various BitTorrent sites. You need a healthy amount of patience but it can be easily done. Much better would be ADSL (and that's next on my list once I can get over to Central to sign up on a non-rainy day).

Cost of Electricals

I started a thread on this a couple of weeks ago...this may be of some help...

Our conclusion was E-bay...that's where my son is intending to buy an IRiver now he has decided on...just keeping an eye on the prices for a while...but this looks the cheapest option.

Cheers

Have to agree with Marcia, E-bay will probably be the cheapest way to go. I actually think the ipod will be cheaper in the UK as compared to here. I know its def cheaper in Singapore for a 60g ipod, got mine for $650 singapore dollars, which works out to be about 15, 730 Baht. However as you said the accessories are cheaper in thailand.

www.apple.com/uk and then go to the refurbished section offers some good deals but depends on what you are looking for.
They also sell out fast.

Checking this thread and the one highlighted above, it is clear that Thailand does not offer any obvious discount on buying the Ipod outright.

I pod is big marketing!

I bought a sony, and it has one thing that appeals me a lot. Avery, very long battery life! I sometimes wonder when it ever needs a reload, 24 hours, and still working. Very small little thing too!

You have to boost the bass a bit on this one, but then it ROCKS with a good headphone!

219 GBP ($399) here in America for the 60 GB iPod Video. Just love mine! Very addicted to PodCasts and video Podcasts. Nice to have a video option on the player. iTunes makes it easy to manage.

However, I'm pretty hardcore with all my Apple stuff. Looking forward to a new MacBook Pro. Just waiting for the right financing options. I need the top of the line.

Wouldn't imagine you'd want to be downloading any music in Thailand. Do it all before you leave and just sit back and enjoy.

I like to have some small batt/AC powered speakers for rockin' tunes on the beach and in the "loom".

BTW, as hardcore as I am with my Apple stuff, I do kinda lust after the 60GB Toshiba "Gigabeat". Sweet unit with a huge screen. The soft looks decent too. CNET rates it higher than the iPod!
