Advice for Iraq Soldier Coming to Phuket
Hi Guys,
I will be traveling to Phuket in a few weeks and have a few questions I have not been able to find answers to on the forum. If anyone has any advice or information on the questions below, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.
1. Has anyone stayed at the Amari Coral Beach Resort and was it "guest friendly?"
2. Where are some great massage places to offer some "extra services?"
3. What type of water sports like diving, sky diving, parasailing, jet ski rental, etc. exist in Phuket?
4. Where are some of the best resturants in Phuket?
5. Is there a link someone can provide to show a calender of when other BM will be in Phuket?
I have learned quite a bit of very useful tips and am greatful for the help from all of you. Thanks.

Welcome
You will get this answer a LOT! Use the Search forum function. Type in things like Amari Coral or massage and you will get all the info you need.
Warning: you won't like what you will find re the Amari being Guest Friendly. You'll have to pay as much to take a girl back to join you as you would to have a room for a whole night in a reasonable hotel in Patong with as many girls staying with you as you want.

3. Water sports not so good at the moment due to SW monsoon, better on the east side of Phuket or in Gulf of Thailand.
4. Depends what you like to eat.
5. http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/calendar.php then click where it says events on each day and you will sea who is in town.

Hi USERMD
Amari Coral resort is not guest friendly
There are plenty of massage places around Soi Kepsab that will offer what you are looking for
Depends on the type of food and what you want to pay. For me,Chang Rei,just behind Tiger serves up lovely Thai food for peanuts. Or at the other end of the scale, there are upmarket places where you can spend plenty of baht, and the ambiance may be better, but don't know about the food.
There is a thread somewhere here about good restaurants,I post it when I find the link.
There are jet skis, and parascending at Patong, but that will depnd on the sea conditions during this period, which is monsoon time. Best time for watersports in Phuket in between Late Nov and end of Apr.
Here is the link for BMs on tour

Edit
This is the link for the restaurants

A suggestion to some of the posters here. Leave out this newbies occupation,or the fact he is serving in Iraq. The comments don't help

Welcome to the board USERMD - sure you've been through enough tough times already - so come a chill out here.
Dawsey given some good advice - Coral Beach Resort is beutiful - more of a honey moon hotel than for fun - may in fact work out cheaper to take a second room in somewhere like Summer Breeze (Soi San Sanbai - American owned - BM Billpay) thats guest friendly and relax at Coral if its part of a package deal that you cant get out of.
You'll find a good welcome here - have fun - you probably more than deserve it!

What's up Doc !!!!
Sorry , just had to say that.
There are some current/ex forces guys on the forum , some working in your part of the world , I'm sure a few will contribute when they see this thread.
Most of your initial questions have already been answered , but I'm sure some more will pop up before you get here , so feel free to ask , but as others have said , search around , most things are here. When you arrive , pop into the Mai Thai Bar , Nicke and whichever BM's are around will make you welcome. Also , pay a visit to Faulty Towers bar , it run by a couple BM's , "Crustasian and Simbo" , and , since they let me in (ex Artillery now working in Operating Theatres) , I'm sure they'd make a "Septic Doctor" feel right at home.
If you post your arrival and departure dates in this link , "Werwolf" will add you to the "Members Arrivals" sticky at the top of that forum.

There are plenty of shorttime hotels around Bangla where you can take a girl for an hour or so...usually 500 baht...so you can meet a girl at a bar and barfine her or get her in a club...go and do the deed and be back to drinking within an hour or there's plenty of daytime action in the beauty salon/massage shops if the weather is bad and you need your c@ck polished

As someone else already said it is not GF, and has one of the most expensive joiner fees in Patong. Last I heard they were asking B3000 per night

Welcome to the board Usermd....
If you're not locked into the Amari I would recommend a couple of very nice Guest Friendly hotels very close to Bangla in Soi Sansabai...one being Casa Summer Breeze run by a BM by the name of Bill (board name Billpay) very nice accommodation will be staying there ourselves in September...the other establishment being The Yorkshire Inn...run by a bloke by the name of Paul...I managed to make reservations for friends there recently...very reasonably priced both of these places and would mean that you could have LT with a girl instead of just ST in another hotel somewhere...which is extra cost as well...
The only problem with these hotels is that they don't have a pool...but there is access to a pool about 20m down the soi...btw Yorkshire Inn is in Soi Sansabai as well...2 minutes walk to bangla...

Hope you have a great trip...and hope to hear a trip report
Cheers

Just left the Patong Resort Hotel this afternoon and if you paid for a double, will not charge you any extra fees. Also, I dealt with a local tourist agency, and they got me a much better price per night then I found through the Internet...
