Cheap outdoor Restuarants
After reading the the restuarant thread i was wondering where the cheap and cheerful outdoor restuarants are
Someone mentioned Sawat Rd behind Tiger ( is Tiger a Soi or the club) but cannot find Sawat Rd on the map.
Also where is Paradise as i hear there is also cheap and cheerful outdoor restuarants.
So where are they?
thanks

The restaurants are on the end of "soi Tiger", meaning the street underneath Tiger disco.
Dont think Paradise has many restaurants, but there are plenty on the other side of Rat-U-Thit.

They line the streets in many places.. But I do think that they are in decline.. Perhaps its my memory but I remember much more choice and physically more streetside venues.
Mae Ubol market is a favorite of the missus..

One of my favorites too. Spent many early mornings there after a night out with that Korean "BBQ" thing.

Chaing Rei, behind Tiger complex, by the Thai boxing arena has some great food. IJ put me onto it and its well worth a visit. A big feed for 150 baht.

You spoot on about that one,LIL...the streetside venues are in decline...looks like the talk of the town nowadays is shopping-malls,KFC and Mc Donalds style food...even the silly goverment representatives seem to congregate in international-franchised food chains when promoting safe food !!!!

Search use sunem and look at his sig for a superb Patong map.. Mae Ubol is marked halfway back along Nanai..
Take a TG as it really helps to know what to order.. The menu's only list the basic main recipies so farangs can order but the kitchens cook anything the TG asks for..
Leks kitchen (4th one down IIRC ?? Noodles, then fried chicken, then issaan and pork BBQ, then her seafood place) is where we always eat.. She knows us and we get treated really well.. But no pork dishes as shes muslim.

In 4 1/2 years had 2 real doses of food poisoning, and I guess a lot of minor baf guts that could be hangovers as much as food.. I think most kitchens by virtue of being open and visible are pretty good standards.. Dont eat shelfish thats been in the sun all day and other simple precautions..
Eat where its busy and where Thais are eating.. Good rule.

Never had any problems, always just ate what ever the misses or one of the staff put infront of me. I think the best was in the carpark at the back of Soi SeaDragon, but that has now gone.

Except the Tiger-complex, there are also outside eateries about 200 meters up North Bangla.3
The one I always go, thanks to Tig, is the Cocaonut, who has delicious fishcakes!
Be careful, seafood is also a bit more expensive! I always come back here and never was dissapointed! But never tried another one, as it was perfect for me!

When i was in Pattaya i went into a back street place with the plastic furntiure, eating noodle soup and adding all the extras too to it it was excellent and so cheap.
Also brought sticky rice, like beef jerky, spicy sausages off market stalls where great
