Hi Jesper - you should give Thomas (Wilma HH name) a call - he runs the Bike Hash (mountain Bike). He is located at BigA Resort in Chalong http://www.phuket.com/biga-bungalow/eng.htm

Montes also has some mountain bike thing going on..
My brother bought one here (6000 baht !!! amazing value but not great) but then brough one of his special ones out later.. Hes pretty serious about biking though, has been in urban street videos stunting and did some cross country competative etc.
Some airlines have special luggage policies (one lets him take a surfboard box without it being weighed in luggage) in the same way that dive equip and golf clubs are allowed through.. He still had a shipping carton so with bars twisted and wheel(s) off it flat packed down.

Hi Jesper
I have taken My bike internationally before. If you have a good bike, like I do and couldn't think of using a cheaper crap one. You can get a box from a bike shop - they usually throw them out. Take the wheels off, turn the goose neck and it will very flat. It shouldn't cost to much extra. When I took my bike from Brisbane to Depasar it cost $15 extra with Quantas. I left me Boogie board bag at home though..

there is a good range of mountain bikes in the sport store (top floor) in Central Festival.
Prices from 12,000 to 60,000 baht, some nice bikes, would like to get one myself.

Seen them for sale in Central in the big sports shop on the third floor, didn't notice makes etc but prices seemed to range from about 5000 to 60,000 baht, yeah 60k I remember that because I was thinking why buy such an expensive bike when for less you could get a motorbike? had much more excercise with our motorbikes than ever on push bikes cos we keep getting punctures and having to push them home or lift them onto the back of the pick up gives a good work out.

Have ridden 3 up for kms on a flat back once.. Also had a blowout on the bypass Rd once and rode from Talang on a rear flat.

What really depends here is how much you are into cycling.
If you just want some excercise and going to point a to point b you can find plenty of bikes here.
But if you want top end bikes it's much more difficult to find. I would like to find a specialized with full dura ace components or a mountain bike with the top end shimano but I can't find them.
I looked at the bikes at central and the best one there would be just slightly above average as far as real bikes go but I'm kind of a snob in gear department though.
