BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | Perils fail to deter Thai bride boom
Gotta get my eyes checked - I first read the link as saying PenIs fail to deter Thai bride boom boom Then again if I were paying the $3000 a year I'd be damned if I wasn't going to get my money's worth one way or the other too!

The picture with the caption, "In the UK, Thai mail order brides have become a subject of ridicule" is absolutely hilarious! Talk about trying to find a picture that proves the point.... ha ha ha
oh dear, I wonder a) if the girl is thai and b) where the heck they found her?
avoid, avoid, avoid.
the guy could use a little queer eye for the straight guy too...looks like Lenny from Laverne and Shirley.

The photo is from a comedy show in the UK called "Little Britain", and the Thai bride is played by Matt Lucas. Goes by the name "Ting Tong". Yes the show ridicules men who marry thai brides.

Had to explain what "Ting Tong" meant to people at work the other week. I think they get the joke more now!
I don't. I never have seen it!

Twenty years ago I wish I had just popped over to Thailand for a quick look before I knelt down in front of that................The word would have been *'d out anyway!

Interesting article. It's no wonder guys are flocking to LOS for brides when you look at what their alternatives at home are. Grim, very, very grim best describes the situation for most guys over 40, and it isn't a whole lot better fro the 30-somethings, if they are not very handsome and/or wildly successful themselves.
The one thing in the article that I couldn't understand was this:
"There's this 'lad' culture with the ladies in UK these days."
What does that mean? Does it mean the ladies are all chasing the younger men? OR does it mean that the ladies act like men?

Trying to act like men. Binge drinking, fighting, gobby etc. Course, when they get treated like a bloke in return, they dont usually like it.

Big softie at heart JayBee. Yes I knelt down and proposed to her. After I had swum the Rochdale Canal, tip-toed through all the broken glass in the town center in bare-feet (Couldn't afford shoes in those days) scaled her 14 story corporation tennement building, abseiled from passing Police helicopter and swung through her already broken window with a 4oz bag of Midget Gems!
How could she refuse! I'm a traditionalist at heart JB.

Nope just the midget gems! She liked the sports mixture too! I liked the way she would pop 27 of them in her mouth making her tongue stick to the roof of her gob and shutting her for five minutes. I used to like the Colts Foot Rock, aniseed balls or Pear Drops myself and they came in about a shilling a quarter pound.
Chocolate hadn't been invented back in 1977 and especially expensive chocolate.
I just like to think that for a 1000 Baht I can get "Anything Ah Waaaant" instead of just throttling her and being out on parole by now........You live and learn Nels, you live and learn! Tch!

1977, you say? I think 15 years old is a bit too young to be proposing marriage. Especially if the girl of your dreams works in a corporate skyscraper!

It's hard 'Oop North' JB and we started young in the Pioneering days of old Rochdale Town. Corporate skyscrapers hadn't been invented then!
Actually you are right JB, I met her at 15, joined Army at 16, had a Daughter with a different woman at 18 and married someone else at 19. Then I stopped for a little lie down with a cup of tea and some buttered muffins!
The rest as they say............is history.

When I catch up with you, let me buy you a couple of cold ones.....I'm dying to hear the details of your storied past! No wonder you became a soldier of fortune, seeing as how the French Foreign Legion was no longer an option!

I appreciate you saying 'storied' as opposed to 'sordid' JayBee and it would be my perfect pleasure to reciprocate.
As for the FFL! Merde! I will give it a miss...........Too many Germans!
